Chapter 39
by Nom Nom Nom de Plume
How are you getting out of this?
Try to Parlay With the Raiders
You look to Tekka, and think back to the training sessions you held on the Convor. You really don't like your odds here. It might be better to try and talk your way put of this.
You slowly exit the vehicle, raising your hands above your head to show your intent. As the speeders slow to a stop before you, you call out "Parlay! I want to speak with your leader. I'd rather make a deal than a pile of pirate corpses."
The raiders, whom you can see are definately Weequay now that they are closer, seem less than impressed by your threat. They mutter to each other in a language you aren't familiar with, until one shrugs and the other chatters urgently into his communicator.
Guns still trained on you, you wait for their leader to arrive. Most of the Weequay glare at you, but a few opt to instead openly leer at Tekka. One makes a lewd comment, judging by how he grabs his crotch in a wrinkled hand and his compatriots guffaw loudly. For her part, Tekka only glares right back, refusing to back down.
Finally, the speeder you saw up at the farm arrives with the last of the Weequay. You are surprised to find that their leader is a female, a large woman with the same chorded muscle and wrinkled brown skin as her subordinates. She swaggers forward, full of bravado.
"I am Shokka Boz! Queen of the Bozza Raiders!" Unlike her crew, she is speaking a heavily accented basic. "My men say you would Parlay, and they haven't shot you, so they must think you have something worth bargaining for." While she says this, she looks you up and down, and eyes Tekka speculatively.
"I'm Corvin Marks. I'm out collecting tributes for Jabba the Hutt. Perhaps you know him?"
You were hoping to scare her a bit with your name drop, but instead the Weequay laughs boisterously. "No, Jabba always sends a Gamorean with his collectors. You work for someone else, I think. A pretty lady, perhaps?"
"Perhaps. But a pretty lady who works for Jabba is the same as working for the Hutt himself, isn't it?"
"Perhaps! But perhaps not so much as you may think." Shokka grins slyly. "But I think you already know that. No matter! We have come to parlay, so parlay we shall. I assume that what you want is your life! But what do you have to offer in return?"
You don't like how this woman seems to know what's going on better than you do. And you definately don't like how her insinuations match your suspicion that something is wrong with this job.
You'll have to offer her something so she doesn't shoot you. You do have the tributes you've collected, but that would qualify as a failed job. Regardless of how sketchy this job has been, that might be a hard pill to swallow.
You could also offer yourselves. Judging by the way the Weequay have been staring at the two of you, they might be willing to just have their fun and let you go. Weequay aren't renowned for their beauty, and they won't be considering your pleasure here, but if you can get around that (or are into that?) they might accept.
What do you bargain with?
