Chapter 19 by cphi cphi

What's next?

Trashed.

The dancing and drinking continued for a while, until Beth was well and truly wasted. She started blacking out, and in the space of one moment of consciousness to the next, she went from dancing to puking in the bathroom while Kyle held her hair.
"Yeah, she's fine. Do you mind giving us a minute?"
Beth didn't know who Kyle was talking to...she only knew that the toilet bowl was surprisingly cool against her cheek.
"Beth, come on..." Kyle picked her up, and helped her wash her face. "You've gone over your limit. I called us an Uber, okay?"
"Uber...yeah...I'll give you some money..." she fumbled for her purse: it wasn't anywhere in sight.
"I have your purse. And don't worry. I got it."
.
.
.
.
Beth was lying on a bench on her side. Her head was in Kyle's lap and she was trying to stop the world from tilting... trying to remember what happened.
"Why...what's happening..."
"You're soaked in liquor is what's happening, and you tried to walk into traffic."
"Fuuuuck...."
...
...
...
Beth's arm was draped over Kyle's shoulder. The Uber was driving away behind them as they walked towards the apartment.
"mmm sorry... I ruined your night out."
"You didn't ruin anything. I had fun."
"Thanks, Brian."
"Kyle."
"Right...." Beth giggled.
Beth slumped against his strength, which was considerable, she realized. _He could pick me up and carry me like a towel if he wanted. _She pulled out her phone. It was only 8:40 PM. Wow. I must have gotten epically wasted. She noted, with annoyance, that Brian wasn't home yet. Kyle brought her inside, laid her on her side on the couch, and brought her a bottle of water from the fridge. "Are you...?"
"I think I've booted as much as I'm going to..." Beth drank the water slowly, "Thanks." She eyed him through her lashes. Despite being very drunk, she remembered some things. "You were getting a little handsy there, Sergeant."
"Corporal."
"Cor-por-allll!!!" She elongated the word mockingly. "Don't evade the question."
"Yeah well....sorry about that. I guess I got a little carried away with our act."
"Well...since you rescued me from those jerks...I guess I'll let it go..." she reached out to rub his knee, and nearly pitched forward onto the carpet until Kyle grabbed her shoulders.
"Okay...lie down, on your side."
The sound of keys rattled in the front door as she complied with his suggestion.
