Brian came in and shut the door behind him. His tie was loosened and his suit a little rumpled.
"Finally." He took in the living room, smiling. "Welcome home, man!" Kyle and Brian embraced in the entryway and while Brian made some comments about how long it had been and how it was good to see his brother, Beth slipped back to a horizontal position.
After a few minutes, Brian came over to kneel in front of her. "Hey, baby. Are you alright?"
Beth nodded. "I got a little drunk."
"That's what Kyle said." He stroked her cheek. "I'm sorry I had to work late."
"I nnderstand..." she tried not to sound annoyed. "It's okay. Kyle and I had funnn..." Had she needed to make that sound suggestive? Had she even consciously tried?
"Yeah... he told me." His face looked a little disapproving.

} Beth rolled her eyes. "I was fiiiine.... Kyle took caaare of me..." Why are you doing that? Are you trying to start shit?
"Well, I'm glad." There was no obvious indication that her childish attempts to make him jealous were working, except for a little twitch of his right eye that she knew was a tell for annoyance. "Maybe you should go upstairs and lie down for a while." His voice was a touch tight. She smiled. I am making him jealous...
Brian helped her up the stairs, into their bedroom, and out of her clothes before setting her on the bed, and making sure she laid on her side. He even propped his pillow behind her so she wouldn't roll onto her back.
"Howw's the event....?" she murmured as she watched him strip out of his suit and put on some casual wear: a t-shirt and gym shorts.
"It went well. Frank thinks their going to hire us. If so, he wants to start right away on a marketing campaign."
"Yay... more working late for you..." she was too drunk to hide her annoyance.
"Frank was really impressed with me tonight, baby." Brian walked over to stroke her hair. "If I keep it up, I'll make partner before the wedding. I can feel it."
"I just want my...man...." she was drifting, she could tell, on the edge of passing out.
"I'm going to hang with Kyle for a bit. You sleep a little okay?" He paused.
She was already gone.
