Tragedy

You get dressed in your costume and teleport to the top of the Tribune building. You're surprised that it's pitch black outside and you must have spent the entire day at comic-con. It's getting really late and close to midnight, so it's a good thing you had a nap before. You decide to resume your crime fighting activities of the previous day, making sure to leave your symbol behind when you stop the mugging of an old lady.

Just as you return to a rooftop to find your next crime to stop, you hear a loud explosion. Looking around, you see the source of the sound and there's a huge fireball as you quickly stop time and head over to it. It's the police station and it looks like someone had set off a bomb. The scene before is ghastly and you work as hard as you can with time frozen to use your super strength to pull people out from the collapsing building and fire to safety.

You also find a van that's mostly destroyed in the middle of the building, where it looks like it had run into the building from the street, likely used in a suicide attack. You can vaguely make out some crisp bones and body parts in there.

When you're sure that you've gotten everybody and out to the safety of the streets, you pause to wonder if you should leave your symbol behind to let the survivors know you saved them. You decide not to, since you hadn't managed to prevent or stop the attack, and they would figure it out anyway when time resumed.

Your heart is pounding hard as you think about what you could have done to prevent it. If only you hadn't wasted so much time at comic-con, you might have seen the van speeding towards the police station and been able to stop the bombing from happening. Instead, now you're a failed hero.
