Too quiet...

Walking up to the room you pause. The hair on your skin stands up lightly. You can't place whats off about the room. So you wait, looking it over carefully. You crouch for a moment and look under the table in the center of the room. Standing you bringing your shield front as you step cautiously into the room.

Up the steps you hear the trumpeting of the canines. You turn around and look up the steps, wondering if they have found your chained sisters yet. That's when you see it, on the roof creeping slowly above you, an arachnid creature.

"Fuck!"

Backing up in surprise you bump into the folding table in the center of the room. As the table skids across the floor the creature drops and charges at you. A couple of steps in front of you he lunges at your face. Stepping forward into him you bash him in the air with your buckler. The hit launches him a short distance across the room into a candle stand, which falls over into a pile of towels.

As the towels catch fire, it quickly lights room. With the light in the room growing you are able to get a solid look at the demon.

A small blackish arachnid creature. It possesses a small chitinous body, from which protrude eight sharp legs. It also has a very long, segmented tail which twists and waves ominously. You know this thing. It is an insidious creature known as a controller daemon. It does not possess any toxins with which it can compel you to do unsavory things.

However, it has a different, more devious technique of capturing women. If it can make contact with your nervous system, this creature will take over your body. It will make you do things against your will and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

The arachnid is faster than you. Its skittering across the floor sounds like nails tapping a chalk board. It rushes at you again, expecting it to jump, you reach over and grab the table and flip it over in front of you to break his momentum. As the creature jumps to climb over the table, you swing your axe in a horizontal stroke attempting to fell the demon with one hit.

While you manage to connect with the critter, you only pull off severing his front two legs as he jumps back away from you. Letting out several clicks and hisses the creature circles around to the door and shuffles out of the room fleeing into the darkness of the stair well.

A hesitant sigh of relief is all you let escape. Controller daemons are notorious for only fighting when they have a clear advantage.

Being able to see in the room clearly now, you notice strings of web all around the room. Your heart almost stops when you realize how close you were to falling into its devious trap. Reaching over you break a leg off the table and wrap it with a towel and light it on fire. Burning the webbing around the room so you have a clear path to the baths.

Hearing the trumpeting louder now, perhaps at the top of the steps you glace around the room. In a rush you grab a pair of leather pants, some underwear and set of riding boots. You had planned to grab a shirt, however they were hanging above the pile of towels that caught fire.

Not taking time to put the clothing on you hold it and run for the baths. You can hear the canines coming down the steps with trumpets blaring as you close the door to the baths behind you. Turning to face the door, you drop to your knees and start to giggle in relief as you latch and lock it.

"Thank you Goddess for your ...."

Hearing splashing behind you, your words stop and you tense up again as you slowly turn to see whats there.
