What's next?
To the mall!
You let yourself talk on autopilot all the way to the mall, since you're still trying to feel out the differences your body and driver status have caused and your subconscious seems to pick up on the changes to reality faster than you do. The act of driving is surprisingly enjoyable to you, even if there's no thrill since you know you'll handle whatever comes with effortless finesse.
Every bump in the road makes your chest wobble, and the occasional speed-bump makes you bounce on your ass and leaves it wobbling like well-set jello in the aftermath. It's a strange set of feelings, but the longer you remain transformed the more natural it feels to you - is it because you're adjusting, or because reality is adjusting you?
The entire drive, your phone feels like it's burning a hole in your pocket. Casey just looks so... plain next to you. She'd always been the more attractive one between you two, but now your brain is full of memories of the jokes going the other way around. You were always the pretty one, the "bimbo", the big booby airhead that still somehow managed to get consistently good grades. It feels wrong for you to be the "better" of the two of you.
You do your best to shake away the thoughts - your jokes of being the "lesser" friend always came from a place of self-consciousness, and it's probably not a great idea to start channeling that.
You park the car in a single smooth motion when you arrive at the mall parking lot, snagging a spot impressively close to one of the mall entrances and getting out with Casey. Your eyes drift loosely over her figure as you both go around the car, continuing to chat and banter on your way into the mall.
"So, what's the plan? Clothes, Hot Topic, then the food court?" Casey asked. It felt completely fitting, because of course that's what you two always did... at least, in this new reality.
"I was... actually thinking that we could go to the arcade today?" You suggest, because that's what you did with her, in the original course of events. Casey pulls a face of surprise, but she doesn't discard the idea.
"Oh, really? I thought you said that games and stuff were "cringe" and you didn't want to carry that into adulthood?" Casey teases, and you can vaguely recall the conversation she's talking about. It happened maybe a year or two ago... you think.
'There has to be an easier way to try and juggle different timeline memories.' You think, staggering when you realize just how absurd a statement that is.
