To meet Michelle, Lauren's mother

After months of silence, Lauren had gotten an e-mail from her absent mother saying she had super important news and needed to see her.

Lauren would have simply deleted the message and ignored the request, but Megan had been in the room at the time and had insisted she go through with it.

"You need to stand up to her so we can all move past what happened," Megan tells her as she adjusts her hair in the mirror as Lauren gets dressed. "Besides, we have some news of our own to tell her..."

It was true. The two of them had been discussing it for a while and... had finally decided to get married!

They hadn't told anyone yet, outside of a few close friends. Megan's conservative family would never approve (or so Megan repeatedly insisted) and Lauren wasn't on speaking terms with hers either.

"I still wish you'd let me throw a party to announce it," Lauren pouted. She was still Lauren after all, and loved being the center of attention.

"Ug, we are not doing that! I... it's too expensive and... I always just feel overwhelmed by those kinds of things," Megan says as her cheeks blush just a bit. "Now let's get going."

"Fine," Lauren says as she slips into a pair of heels and gives Megan a kiss. "But we aren't done talking about this."

Megan smiles and kisses her back as she quietly prays things don't get crazy with Lauren's mom.
