Chapter 12 by AlexandraS90 AlexandraS90

What is it that Shepard want?

To look more like her old self.

"I'd be a lot more comfortable in this new body if it looked like my old one. Or sounded like it." Shepard told the mischevious, randy quarian. It felt offputting to speak and have her words come out in EDI's smooth, professional tone.

"Are you sure?" Tali asked. "I'm rather attached to EDI's voice."

"I'm sure." Shepard responded.

"Hmm. Well, if you're after a synthetic epidermis, like Dr. Evá had when controlling that platform, I'm afraid I wouldn't even know where to begin. But I could make a few minor cosmetic changes." Tali said, absent-mindedly fingering her slick quarian kitty.

"I would be grateful for that." Shepard said tersely.

"How grateful would you be, Commander?" Tali asked slyly. Shepard internally sighed.

"Grateful enough to do anything you asked of me, mistress." Part of her hated to say it to the younger alien, the other half of her thrived on submission. It seemed her transition from organic to synthetic life couldn't change that.

"Always the answer I like to hear, Shepard." Tali said. Shepard just knew she was grinning under that mask of hers. "Why don't you power down for an hour, and I'll throw together some upgrades..."

Obliging, Shepard moved into the corner and went offline, waiting until Tali reactivated her.

-

"There!" Tali remarked, as she completed her finishing touches and turned Shepard back on.

"Keelah, I haven't made anyone over since before my Pilgrimage, but I think I've done alright with you, Shepard." Tali said proudly, directing her to a reflective surface.

Shepard took a moment to study her new appearance. Only two features had really changed. Tali had tinted the metallic, helmet-like locks of EDI's to a dark red, similar to the head hair of Shepard's organic body. She'd also altered the platform's eyes, giving them the green glow of Shepard's old form.

"The eyes and hair was pretty basic stuff," Tali explains. "For the voice, I pulled a few of your Battlespace interviews off the extranet to create a speech synthesiser."

"The voice?" Shepard echoed. To her delight, her robotic platform spoke in a replicated form of her original voice, not EDI's agreeable voice.

"Only thing is, you won't be able to say anything negative about the Alliance News Network until I patch the voice program." Tali said. Shepard was bareful sure if she was joking or not.

Looking into the mirror, Shepard couldn't help but feel pleased. Yes, she had basically only tinted EDI's form, but the AI's former body was her home now, and it felt good to customise it. Not to mention the satisfying feeling of being able to speak in her own voice again.

Samantha would be pleased. Or maybe she wouldn't. She had always expressed her fondness for EDI's sensual voice.

"Tali, I've gotta thank you." Shepard said. "You have no idea how good this feels."

"Of course, I do have an ulterior motive." Tali smirked. "Your moans will be all the better in your own voice."

Uh oh, Shepard thought. What had she gotten herself into?

"Speaking of which, I think I'll be cashing in my favor right now." Tali decided. "Come, Shepard."

"We can't do whatever you want here, mistress?" Shepard asked, as Tali lead her out into the hallway.

"I'm afraid not, Shepard. You see, we'll have to do this in the Shuttle Bay. It's a matter of size, after all." The quarian said, as she lead the AI to the elevator.

Had she still possessed the organic anatomy for it, Shepard would have gulped.

Who or what is in the Shuttle Bay?
