Three-Gender Steampunk World of Magic

"Okay, Studio Assistant. I want you to read my mind and project my ideas into this new world", I announce with a grandiose sweep of my hands, little theatricality never hurt anyone. She nods and steps up to me, pressing both palms against my head. With a sigh, I close my eyes to prevent her perfect form from distracting me and instead focus on conjuring up that old fantasy, the place where I escaped as a teenager.

A deafening roar snaps my eyes open. One side of the room has become translucent. It's as if we were floating in space. A stream of what must be some sort of matter flow into the centre of the area I'm looking, collecting together to form a sphere. Gathering more and more mass, it expands and expands, while weathering hail of icy comets that bring water to the surface. Mountains rise and seas form. A super-continent forms on one side. I focus on it and the view zooms closer. Water sprouts from underground, forming rivers and canyons. Volcanoes rise and spew ash and magma. Plant-life forms in the sea, slowly crawling across the dry land. As forests grow to cover large swaths of the super-continent, animals of all sorts appear.

I look at the south-west corner of the super-continent. A convenient combination of a high mountain range and vast desert separate it from the rest of the continent while the world ocean surrounds it on the other two sides. But it's too uniform and boring. A meteorite hit right in the middle of it takes care of that, forming an inland sea, with returning ejecta forming an island in the middle of it. Little more fiddling with the climate and there we have it: hills to the north, forests to the west, swamplands to the south and plains to the east. Four clear zones circling the island in the middle. Perfect.

But what would such a land be without inhabitants? So I make people appear. Humans gather into tribes, tame fire and hunt animals. They establish villages and agriculture. I make one drastic change, for there are now three genders. There are men, women and kathos. Kathos look just like women, except they have a penis and testicles instead of vagina and uterus. A man-woman pairing will produce boys and girls, while a kathos-woman pairing breeds more girls and kathos. Thus women are roughly half of the population, with the other half made up of men and kathos.

In each of the four zones, a warlord emerges who unites their zone, eventually waging war upon the other zones. Decades pass in the blink of an eye. A feudal system emerges to facilitate raiding and warfare. Eventually, one king reigns supreme and calls himself emperor. He establishes his Imperial Capital on the island of the inland sea. The cessation of constant war stimulates development, this corner of the world entering its Renassaince era. Belief in gods wave, aside from one that I had specifically thought out as a horny fifteen-year-old. Munk, the God of Magic, became real with the twist that he was, and is a giant pervert. Without any way of directly interacting with the world, I make Munk grant the spells of witches and sorceresses, as long as they can satisfy his lustful hunger as the Eternal Peeping Tom. Thus all magic-users have to spend a portion of the power that Munk grants them to remain beautiful while dressed in stripperific outfits and engaging in regular debauchery.

Then an alchemist discovers the power of steam and the industrial revolution gets underway. Gunpowder revolutionizes warfare and there is another round of warfare between the constituent parts of the Empire. Another emperor rises to the top, willing to combine the powers of sorcery and technology. The first factories pop up and a fledgeling railroad system gets built.

And that's where I stop. My final thought is to throw in little excitement, with mysterious dangers lurking in the northern mountains and deep in the eastern deserts. Wouldn't want the world to be too peaceful, just in case the transition from feudal society to industrial one goes too smoothly.

I don't know what exactly the Assistant created in the rest of the world and frankly, I don't want to know. She certainly used the fragmented ideas from my old memories, but exploring this world should present some surprises. I can't wait.
