Chapter 3 by Blacspark Blacspark

What happens next?

Thinking With Your Training

You immediately settle into a calm and take stock of the situation. Hundreds of memories regarding protocol and early defrost flit through your memory and one detail stands out. If the computer is off, someone needs to turn it back on. You carefully flex your eyes and fingers as the defrost allows you to finally see your pods interior. Schematics pass through your brain and the imagined voice of Security Chief Dawson berates you for slowness.

Grinning to yourself you extend your right arm and engage the self-release mechanism. Then you wait, because jumping up into ship atmosphere immediately causes sickness and disorientation. Dawson would be proud of your by-the-book procedure.

As the pod door lifts away you recall you are on the bottom rung of stasis beds. Looking up you see a large number of amber warning lights blinking on the other pods. There are still a few green interspersed, but it looks like something has gone considerably wrong. You slowly sit up in the pod and let your body acclimate to the warmer air. Now comes the time of action.

What do you do first?
