Chapter 6 by DT-1010
What's next?
The secret of the dial revealed
“Anyway,” Usopp coughed into his fist, trying to conceal his embarrassment. A failed attempt if Robin’s soft chuckle was any indication. “Now that I’ve finished completing my repairs, I think it’s about time I tested this dial.”
Robin raised a delicate eyebrow. “Oh? And what does it do, then?”
That… That was a good question. Usopp scratched his chin, trying to figure out its purpose. The most straightforward option was to just activate it. There would be no need for guessing if he did that. On the other hand, however, the whole point about knowing what the dial did was safety. He doubted anyone would appreciate a hole inside the study chamber. Especially Nami, who stored away her maps and documents in here. Knowing the orange-haired navigator, she’d slap him in the face before handing him a bill for the damage expenses, which would be more than actually required – then slap him again.
Yeah, not a great idea.
“Honestly, I’m still not sure. These dials didn’t come with an instruction manual. Neptune knows I’d need it…” He admitted. But hey, could anyone blame him? He wasn’t a genius or anything. Just good at tinkering. “You’d think I would know after spending so many nights trying to fix this thing, but I’m nowhere closer to finding out. It’s really depressing when you think about it.”
“Well, are there any parts that might give you some idea? By listing the components, you could come up with a probably hypothesis.”
Usopp nodded slowly, understanding the busty archaeologist's point of view. She was right. Maybe if he just thought about it long and hard, he might come up with an idea.
No time was wasted as he started. The sniper grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, before writing down all the materials he’d seen inside the dial. Well, the ones he recognized. The technology behind these devices was still a mystery to him. If even Franky, who’d designed a tank that could transform into a robot, could not completely reverse-engineer the dials’ secrets then he stood no chance himself.
He quickly realized that the small machine used light though. After all, the tube on one end of the dial contained a small lens. And the center contained some sort of power source, although its exact origins were unknown. Some sort of mineral, he guessed. But that didn’t mean it was just a lamp. It was a possibility – he couldn’t deny that – but he’d seen a Flashlight Dial before. This one was built differently, meaning that it was logical for him to assume that its purpose was also not the same.
As for the rest of the insides, those parts were weird too. He noted down as many as he could. Each component was part of a puzzle, after all. And he intended to solve this one.
“Alright, I think I’ve narrowed it down.” Usopp said after a while. He picked up the mysterious device, showing it to his guest. “The way this dial functions, is by pushing the big button on its side. Right here in the middle, see? That activates the power source. It’s kind of like a battery, using some sort of material that has to be unique to the Sky Islands.”
Robin lowered her book, watching from the couch. “So, it’s a powerful energy source? I’ve never heard of it before. That must mean the dial is important.”
“I’m thinking the same thing. Best keep this away from Luffy, then.” Because while he liked his close friend, Usopp knew better than anyone just how careless their captain could be. He’d been **** to fix a lot of broken stuff due to the rubber man’s antics. “Anyway, the battery is linked to a series of wires and machinery. That in itself isn’t special. What is remarkable, however, is how there are multiple glass lenses inside the tube. Each is tinted a different color, and are designed differently.”
Usopp walked over to where his crewmate was sat. He was feeling talkative after being cooped up for hours, and Robin was good company. Of course, that wasn’t the only reason.
He would never admit it out loud, but he was attracted to her. Not in a romantic sense though. If anything, he was simply interested in her because of her model-like looks. He was still a young man, dammit. And spending most of his time on a ship, filled with mostly men and only two women – both of which gorgeous who he couldn’t approach – did little to satisfy his hormones. They didn’t stay too long on the islands they visited either, so he couldn’t really look for a stable relationship, now could he?
His eyes were on the dial as he explained its traits, yet closely observed Robin’s smooth curves from the corner of his vision. Damn, she really had long legs, didn’t she? So pale and slim, yet thick when it came to her lush thighs. Usopp decided to focus on the matter at hand before he got a boner.
“At first, I thought it could be a flashlight. But that doesn’t make all too much sense if it has these strange components.” He said.
“Mhm, that sounds about right.” Robin tapped her chin with a dainty finger, contemplating on something. “And multi-colored lenses, which are each unique… I can’t say I’ve ever heard of such a thing. Maybe it would be best to test the dial outside after all?”
“Yeah, you’re right. Hopefully it doesn’t blow up in my face…”
Robin smiled teasingly. “Like those waffles you baked last week? Not even Luffy ate them, right?”
Embarrassment overwhelmed him, as he automatically remembered that particular event. True, he’d tried to cook them some of his trademark waffles, but he’d fallen out of practice after so long. And, well, it was humiliating to hear how Luffy had passed on them. That guy ate everything that resembled food! Usopp’s cheeks flushed red.
“O-oi, no fair! Don’t bring that up again, Robin!” He flailed his arms around, trying to stop her from laughing again.
'Click'
Huh?
Usopp stopped in his tracks, realizing in a split second that he was still holding the dial in his right hand. One that he was throwing around wildly, and as a result accidentally pressed the button. But there was no stopping his mistake, unfortunately.
Before either pirates could react, the dial hummed softly as its power source was activated. The machinery immediately came to life, and transparent energy traveled through the narrow tube, striking every individual lens. The result was peculiar to say the least; a multi-colored beam of light came out of the end, consisting of vibrant colors such as greens, pinks, reds, blues and yellows. Usopp was surprised by how intense the lightshow was.
Yet, if anyone was surprised and shocked, it would be Robin. Considering how he had the dial aimed directly at the unsuspecting archeologist. The beam of light struck her straight in the face, and clearly petrified her. Usopp could also see the multiple patterns, swirling around on Robin’s face. No wonder she was frozen in place. He’d be disoriented, too. Usopp quickly turned the dial off again.
“Robin? Hey, you alright?” He asked out of concern for his friend. She didn’t look like herself.
In fact, the ravenette seemed… dazed? He didn’t really know how to word it. Robin’s face had gone slack, and a passive expression took place where she’d smiled earlier. Her eyes had lost some of the intelligent life that they usually sparkled with. Crap. This dial did something weird to her, didn’t it? Or was she teasing him again? He wouldn’t put it past her. Despite her cool and calm behavior, the curvy pirate was quite the tease.
“Yes…”
Usopp blinked. Confused by the monotone answer, which was unlike her, he crouched in front of the woman to get a closer look. Her eyes were unfocused, and she didn’t respond whatsoever when he waved a hand in front of her face. What was the meaning of this?
“How do you feel?”
“I feel good…”
“Good? How come?”
She maintained the emotionless expression, eyelids slightly lowered as if sleepy. “I feel at peace… Calm, too…”
Hold on a second. Usopp frowned as he rubbed his chin, searching through his memory. That sounded vaguely familiar. But from where exactly…
“One, two, Jango!”
The image of a weird pirate, with heart sunglasses and a pendulum came to mind, shouting the familiar catchphrase.
Of course! Usopp slapped a fist into his open palm, remembering the pirate that had attacked his home village alongside captain Kuro. All the way back when they’d first recruited him into the crew, long before most of the others had joined up. That guy had been a hypnotist! He recalled how he’d put people into a trance, using pendulums that could be used as weapons. At least, that’s what he could remember.
The dial could hypnotize people! It was the only explanation that made sense. After all, Robin showed similar symptoms of those who were hypnotized, now that he thought about it. The impassive behavior she displayed was due to being put into a trance. People who experienced such a condition no longer reacted openly to outside stimulus, aside from direct commands which they became susceptible to. Usopp looked down at the dial, marveling that a small, innocent-looking tool could affect a person’s mind like that.
So, if he wanted to return Robin to normal, he would have to use the dial again. Right? The solution looked rather simple.
And yet… did he really want that?
Usopp gulped audibly, finally realizing what the true implications of a hypnotized Robin were. She was in a trance, which meant that she was unaware of what was happening right now. That gave him a ridiculous amount of power over the attractive woman. He glanced between the dial and Robin; a fierce debate raging on inside the young man’s mind.
“This isn’t a joke, right?” He wondered out loud. Robin did not respond, as expected. “I mean, it would be a bad one. So I’m giving you one chance to stop.”
Yet despite his warning, she didn’t make any move at all. Her blank gaze remained.
He took a step closer. Then another, until his knees almost touched hers. Usopp swallowed nervously as he extended his hands, eyes never leaving hers. He tried to see if she would make any kind of gesture, or glance in his direction. Robin would never allow him to do something like what he was planning to do. And… and he just wanted to make sure that his theory was correct. Yeah, there was nothing wrong with that.
With his heart beating a mile an hour inside his chest, Usopp gave her one final warning. “Last chance. Or I’ll do something you’ll regret.”
Nico Robin kept staring off in the distance.
The last vestiges of restraint ran out, and something within him snapped. He suddenly lurched forward; hands open, fingers outstretched and ready to apprehend the target. Usopp practically latched onto her huge breasts, palming the globes of doughy flesh through her jacket and grasping whatever skin that was exposed by her zipper.
Fuck, they’re so soft!
Usopp couldn’t believe how amazing they felt. He’d fantasized about her tits more times than he could count, but his expectations didn’t even begin to match up with the actual experience. Robin’s bust was soft. Yet surprisingly firm for their size. The sniper’s mind grew addicted to their sensation within seconds, registering the texture and softness of her huge boobs and committing them to memory. He rolled them in his hands, getting a feel of how heavy they were.
Her amazing chest held a lot of weight, as a matter of fact. Usopp wondered how the hell they remained so perky. She made no sound of protest as he practically toyed with her tits, kneading them as much as he wanted to. Only her blank expression remained constant. That didn’t deter her friend though. He squeezed her huge breasts together to create even more cleavage, and watched as the pale flesh smashed together; their sheer size almost spilling out of the blue jacket. Was she even wearing a bra underneath all of that? Honestly, he wanted to find out.
As he loomed over his crewmate, Usopp could smell her feminine scent. His arousal spiked higher. Robin was beautiful, no doubt. Her body was a temple of sinful curves, and any man who experienced a taste of it would no longer be able to contain himself anymore. Which is exactly what happened to him. Deep within his mind, he questioned the morality of his actions, although that part was quickly silenced by his raging boner.
The question was whether or not he could stop before things went too far. Usopp stared hungrily at the bombshell sitting there on the couch, completely **** to his advances.
