The overgrown path

You decide that your best option is the overgrown path as it may lead to an old watering howl that is perhaps no longer in use by the animals of the island. After all if the other creatures were as big as that ape you encountered then it is unlikely they could move along the path without leaving some sort of tracks. You make your way along the path undoing mother natures hard work as the vegetation is crushed into the dirt and as vines fall before your blade. The trees begin to grow larger stretching to what you can perceive as hundreds of feet high and growing as thick as a house. The jungle becomes darker as you push yourself onward being weary of almost every sounds and every movement.

You see a vine fall to the ground in front of you and almost let out a scream as you look up to see a curious bird who seems just as startled as you are. You laugh a little relieved that you haven't encountered another one of those fury apes as you notice something high in the trees. You see what looks like wooden bridges connecting a series of trees along the tops. You follow the overgrown trail to what looks like a foot ladder now covered in vines leading up a tree. You carefully grip the foot ladder and ascend the ladder. You eventually reach the top reminding yourself to repeatedly not look down and see several structures built along the tree tops. They appear to be dwellings and a few other unknown structures connected by wooden bridges. The place seems abandoned as the vegetation seems to be reclaiming the village. You make your way along one of the bridges carefully testing it before hand and enter one of the primary dwellings. The door takes a few nudges, but it eventually opens to a dark empty room with a bare wood floor, torch stands along the walls and a few windows which seem to be close able. You look outside to realize the sun is begging to set. ''Have I really been out here that long?'' You lay down your sleeping mat in the far corner and go to lay down, you dream of home.
