The only thing you can do for now is resist his orders

You wanted to make a move and stop the Serpentine Sportsman in his tracks, but truth be told, you knew that as soon as you reached the stage, you'd either be shot by one of the Adder agents or otherwise, mind-controlled by the man's words. While everyone else was panicking, you knew with a moment of clarity what you needed to do... but it wasn't going to be easy. You turned to Vaarvel, switched on your comms to Tschau, then informed the two of them...

They needed to knock you unconscious immediately. That was the only way you were going to be able to resist his suggestions. You could try covering your ears, but you couldn't rely on such a cheap method... you needed to be completely robbed of your ability to hear or comprehend.

Vaarvel's ordinary smile fell somewhat as she blinked her eyes, then knit her brow irritably. "You're not thinking clearly... we can't make your extraction if you're in an unconscious state. That's the same as asking you to die."

"Don't be so sure, Vaarvel. I can make the extraction." Tschau's voice came from over comms. "I can also make the-"

That's as far as you heard. In the next moment, something tremendously heavy and metallic connected with the back of your head. You could only speculate later on if some random terrorist had swung a folding chair and knocked your lights out, or if perhaps Vaarvel was distracting you while Tschau came from behind to make the knock-out. Either way, you were free from the danger of being controlled by the Serpentine Sportsman, but you would be nursing one whale of a headache later on...

The events that followed you'd have to hear from the Goodbye Girls who had accompanied you on the mission. The next time you opened your eyes, you were on a CEDIT Gambit, speeding away from the auction house.
