The invitation

"Good Evening Lieutenant"

At the sound of T'Pol's voice, Malcolm started, banging his head.
"Subcommander" he began blushing slightly "I didn't hear you enter, Can I help you with anything?"
"I believe you can, Mr. Reed, I have been reviewing several of your recommendations and I believe that if we approach the Captain together perhaps we may persuade him to implement several of them".

"Well.... I.." stammered Reed.

"Perhaps you could come to my quarters after your shift finishes to discuss it" Said T'Pol moving slightly closer, heat radiating off her. Reed felt his breath hitch in response as he caught her scent. He wondered at her actions. Didn't Vulcan's dislike personal contact? Briefly, he was tempted to lean forward into her warmth than he remembered where he was and whom he was with. He also remembered that he hadn't answered her question.

"My shift finishes at 21.00 I could be at your quarters for 21.15", He ventured

"Very well, I'll see you" answered T'Pol as she moved away to leave the armoury the paused, since you will be coming to my quarters directly after your shift. Since missing meals can be detrimental to health and I would not wish to incur the good doctor’s wrath. Perhaps we could combine the meeting with dinner Do you have any preferences for dinner?"

Reed was briefly shocked speechless then stammered out an answer "Er, that would be very ni... acceptable."

Feeling T'Pol's expectant gaze upon him (for a Vulcan anyway) he realised that he hadn't answered her second question and said "no, no preferences".

"Very well, I shall see you then" answered T'Pol leaving the armoury.

At her departure, Reed released the breath he had been holding, feeling a sudden sense of loss at the loss of her presence. Adjusting his clothing slightly, he resumed work, fully expecting to wake up in his quarters (or sickbay) at any moment.
