The first night

It was only later that I discovered what she was, and what I had become.

She had read my mind as she turned me, and discovered where I lived. After carrying my lifeless body through the city during the hours between dawn and day, she set me down in my own bed, drew the curtains and waited for me to turn.

It took a while. She’d lost control when she fed, and for her that was dangerous. For me it had been lethal. Long claw marks crisscrossed my body, and I had been missing a small chunk out of my neck. My ravaged body had barely survived the Embrace. Or perhaps she hadn’t done it quite right. Apparently I was the first person she had ever Embraced.

I awoke the next evening to find my Sire, Dominique waiting there patiently, sniffing the air.
