The Park

“It’s such a lovely day out today,” Jessie beamed, “So I thought we could take a walk in the park.”

“The p-p-park?” Lauren stuttered nervously. She couldn’t go to the park dressed like this! It was a Saturday in the middle of summer break, there was bound to be students or teachers from her college at the park today. “Please, not the park.” She begged.

“Why not?” Jessie asked, smirk still on her face. “You could use a little sun and exercise.”

Lauren pouted angrily at the “exercise” remark as Jessie dragged Lauren down the street by her wrist, laughing. She looked down at herself. She looked absolutely ridiculous! Out in public, wearing baby clothes, and diapered! She would never live this down if anyone she knew saw her like this! She actually turned a shade of red as that thought entered her mind.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, the sun was beating down hard, causing Lauren to become quite uncomfortable as she began to sweat profusely. Worse still, the heat was practically roasting her diapered lower half; not helping the fact that sweat was beginning to pool in the infantile garment, adding to the discomfort.

“Aww, isn’t she just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? Is she yours?” a voice said, earning Lauren’s attention. Lauren looked up in surprise to see a jogger – another woman, only about two or three years older than Lauren – walking towards them. Lauren panicked a bit. A stranger was actually seeing her like this!

“Oh, no.” Jessie assured with a giggle. “I’m just babysitting this little one for a couple of weeks. She’s my niece, actually.”

“Oh, okay. Isn’t she a little big for diapers, though?” the woman asked. Lauren instantly paled.

“Well, she actually turned three last month, she’s just big for her age.” Jessie explained. Then in a low voice – but just loud enough for Lauren to hear – she added, “She’s also been having trouble making it to the bathroom in time.”

Lauren balked at those lies as she turned scarlet. No one could possibly be stupid enough to think she was three, even with her small size and current attire! And just what was Jessie implying with that last one?!

“I see.” The woman said with a nod, “Well, we shouldn’t embarrass her about it. My daughter is the same way; four years old and still in diapers.”

Lauren’s jaw dropped as her eyes went wide. Did this woman actually think she was young enough to be in diapers?!

“That reminds me, I still need to get home and change so I can pick her up from daycare.” The woman said suddenly, not noticing Lauren cringe at the unintended destruction of her pride. She then began to jog away, briefly looking over her shoulder to yell, “It was nice to talk to you!”

Once the jogger was out of earshot, Jessie bursts out in a fit of laughter as Lauren looks up and scowled at her. “Can’t really pretend to be hot stuff after that, now can you, Laurie?” Jessie asked mockingly, laughter still in her voice.

“Shut up.” Lauren mumbled angrily. Jessie continued to giggle as she continued to lead Lauren towards the park again.
