The Old New Kid

I turn around and see a brunette girl around my age, tall and thin looking in a jacket with a party shirt underneath and casual slim jeans with black boots. “Hey.” “Hi, you’re the newer kid huh?” I nod before hitting her back. “Wait, you’re the last new kid?” “Uh huh, well the old new kid I guess. The one before you, I came in a week earlier. I’m Alexis.” She pulled out her hand and we shook. “Alex. I see what Sony meant about our names.” Alexis chuckled softly. “You two seem to get along, I’m glad. Sony is my roommate and friend, what did she say though?” “Oh, that our names are confusing.” “Haha, yes that sounds like her.”

She took a sip of her drink. “So how come you aren’t playing with the others?” “I was before, but I wanted to talk to someone earlier. He’s... not around anymore.” “Oh, a date?” “Not exactly... I don’t know, it was complicated but not anymore. Being single is very liberating for me anyways.” “Oh?” “It was stupid, I don’t want to talk about it.” “That’s fine that’s fine.” I say as I grab a plate and add a few brownies to it. “Careful, too much might return the pain to your gut.” I smile. “It’s fine, I know. So how do you like the school so far?” She shrugged. “It’s okay i guess, a lot more sexual than any others though.” I am so glad she said that because I felt like the odd one out before that. “Very sexual, very scheduled, if I didn’t have Sony I would probably not be here right now.” “You mean in the party?” She nodded. “Yea, Sony was invited and brought me with.” She yawned and leaned against the counter.

“Well I think I’m gunna go back to the living room, you gunna join us?” I ask her. “Maybe later, I kind of need some alone time if you don’t mind.” “Not at all that’s fine. I’ll just be waiting then,” she and I smiled as I took my plate with me. “It was nice meeting you, Alexis.” “Back at you, Alex.”
