The Nudanomicon ex nudus

Ash saw what looked like a book, but the cover had a strange pattern on it. Almost like skin. A face had been drawn or inscribed in the form of a scared expression. However, a faint reddish hue could be seen where the face's cheeks would be, showing embarrassment, not fear.

Opening the pages, it showed images of naked women fleeing seemingly in fear, if not for the fact they were also drawn with blushing faces. Behind them, ghoulish hands floated and held what seemed to be bits of clothing. Further inspection showed an odd image of the same women in three stages. One posed without any movement, and fully clothed. The image next to it showed the clothes seemingly melting away like liquid, and the third image showed the women in the same pose, but now naked and blushing.

"What kind of perverted book is this?" Ash whispered aloud.

"What ya got there, Ash?" Debra asked.

"Hey, you're the history buff. See if you can make any sense of where or, more importantly, when this porn was made." Ash handed the book to her friend.

"Well, it seems bound in human flesh. But this face was both tattooed with ink and carved to make it look like a blushing face. It needs to be very old to be this weathered. Hmm. The name given inside is Nudanomicon ex nudus. Roughly translated as Book of the Naked."

"So, what kind of perverted freaks published it?" Ash asked.

"Well, it has no publication date or information about where it came from or who wrote it. With as weathered as this is, and the level of latin involved, I would guess this could be from the ancient Babylonians. A professor or doctor of parapsychology or the paranormal would know." Debra explained.

"Like a Dr. Samantha Browning?" Ash asked.

"Who?"

"I just found this notebook. It seems this Dr. Browning was researching this book. Her notes say that speaking passages from the book is like reciting an incantation, and can wake up spirits long thought dormant. She cautious us not to read anything from the book, not even silently." Ash paraphrased.

"Dude, are you trying to prank me right now? You bring us to bum fuck nowhere to a cabin the fucking woods. If that wasnt creepy enough, you just so happen to find an ancient tome that can unleash demons?" Debra asked, incredulous.

"Look, I didn't plan any of this. If you want me to drop it, I will. I'll happily bury this thing in the cellar, and never mention it again." Ash said, trying to calm her friend down.

"You're lucky Diane and Brad are busy. I'm bored enough that I might want to peruse those notes. Even if it's fake, I'd like to know how detailed you made this farce. It's the least I can do if you went through all this trouble to scare me." Diane reasoned.

"Okay, be my guest. I'll be taking a shower." Ash said as she left.

"You trust the water here? At least make sure it isnt rusty or filled with spiders or something." Debra said.

"That's the first on my list before I even get undressed." Ash said, taking a flashlight and going outside.

Debra sighed as she began to pore over the densely packed notebook. She had to say that this was a carefully crafted prank if Ash really made all this up. Otherwise, she would have to take all of it seriously, which also didnt sound like a good option.

"The demons like to take possession of male hosts, who then become dumber, but also stronger, and only exist to deprive women of a way to clothe their bodies. Hmm, if it wasnt so foreboding, I would think this was an erotic novel of some kind." Debra read Dr. Browning's notes.

Meanwhile, Ash went outside to turn the water on. The valve needed some coaxing, but it turned, and the rush of water was like Angel's singing.

"Now to see if the water heater still works." Ash said to herself before opening the nearby hatch.

WRATTTAYAAPYAAAP!

"GAH!" Ash jumped back at the strange noise.

Out of the hatch dropped a raccoon, who seemed perturbed at its home being broken into.

"Hey, pal. I didnt mean to scare you. I just need to turn that water heater on. It'll be much warmer for you after I do. Much more cozy. You'll love it." Ash tried reasoning with the critter.

Debra finished skimming the notes, and couldn't believe how detailed they were. It would take days just to read through it all and u understand it. She knew Ash liked pranks, but this...seemed out of her league. She wasnt smart enough to make anything like this. Even if she hired someone, she wouldnt have expected this level of detail just for a scare.

"This is just too weird. Maybe I'll turn in early and just let her scare me tomorrow." Debra reasoned and threw the notebook onto the desk.

As she did, an electronic recording device fell out of a side pocket of the notebook. Debra hesitated for a second before hitting the play button...

"Okay, just a bit more. And....there! Hot water is on line!" Ash said, smacking her hands together to clean off the dust as well as signifying a job well done.

The raccoon climbed back inside as the heater began to rumble to life, and Ash shut the hatch.

"Sleep well little guy!" Ash said before heading back inside.

"...which brings me to urge you a third time to stop listening to this and throw that book into the fireplace!" A 30yr old woman's voice sounded from the recorder.

"What's that?" Ash asked.

"GAAAH!" Debra shrieked, startled.

"Sorry. What are you listening to?"

"Oh, this was in with Dr. Browning's notes. I figured it was ok to listen.

"Anything good?"

"Just the same warnings and such from the notes so far. Oh, wait. Listen!"

*"This passage translates as The Immortal Form. I think that should be safe enough." Dr. Browning stated.

"Nolumus proferre aliquid. Erubescant et feminas in perpetuum exuere nudam." Dr. Browning recited.

Ash and Debra looked at each other for a moment before the floor began to vibrate.

"What the hell is going on?!" Debra shouted.

"Oh shit! I got the translation wrong. That wasnt 'immortal', it was 'Sacrificial'! What did i just do?!" Dr. Browning cried on the recorder.

The vibrations got louder and the ground quaked. Ash and Debra tried to stay standing, but had to sit down. In the back, they heard screeching and moans coming from the bedroom. It seemed the earth moved for more than one reason at the moment.

Then the shaking stopped. Ash and Debra looked at each other and looked down. They felt over their bodies for any injuries, but found none. As they took a shared sigh of relief, Diane began to wail.
