The New Republic (5 ABY - 25 ABY)

Unlike the Disney Cannon, where the Empire falls surprisingly quickly after the Emperor's ****, in Legends, the Empire lasted for at least another ten to twenty years. During this time, the Empire has fallen into chaos as warlords and generals fight over an empty throne in an event known as the Imperial Civil War. With the Imperils fighting among themselves, the Rebels begin work on rebuilding the Republic, a task that has become all the harder due to the increasing number of battles.

To make matters even worse, the Imperils they are fighting now are not overly confident officers of the past but incredibly talented military officers, with Grand Admiral Thrawn as the greatest threat. Meanwhile, the chains of Vader's Inquisitors have been broken, and now they are running repent in a war-torn galaxy with little to no protection against the dark side of the ****.

Meanwhile, in the void between galaxies, a hoard of unstoppable ****-resistant aliens known as the Yuuzhan Vong are rapidly approaching the Star Wars Galaxy.
