Chapter 9 by Polar_Lime Polar_Lime

Who does Ava attack?

The Man.

Ava swung her sword towards the male combatant. Even though he saw her charge from less than 20 feet away, he barely brought his daggers up to guard his face from Ava’s blade. The force of the strike caused the man to fall backwards, almost tripping over his own feet. He could only dodge and parry each swing as Ava was finding out first hand that she was quite good at medieval dueling. A smirk crept upon her face as a dagger flew to the side 50 feet away. The man cried in pain but quickly blocked the next swing with his remaining blade. Suddenly he felt his back against a large tree trunk.

“Fuck!” he cried out in surprise, not realizing he was so close to the tree, but now knowing he was cornered. A second quick sting shot through his hand as Ava’s steel tip poked his other dagger from his grasp. The man, now completely unarmed, could only raise his hands in defeat as the GDF agent’s sword a mere inch from his face.

“Kill him!” a voiced called from behind Ava, “finish this!” Ava’s blue eyes met the older man’s gray ones. He spit to the side without breaking eye contact. His hands slowly lowered to his sides.

“Well...go on,” he muttered, “get it over with.” Ava gave a quick glance behind her. The woman behind her had removed her cloak and a gorgeous young blonde woman was revealed. She gave a quick nod, accepting the man’s fate at the hands of the red haired woman.

Ava turned back to her defeated opponent. He almost mirrored the blondes nod as he puffed out his chest. She had a choice to make. She could finish him off, and put the fate of the duke in trusting the mysterious blonde woman. Or she could hold off and interrogate the man, figure out whose actually on which side. Ava tightened her grip around the hilt of her sword as she finally decided....

What does Ava decide?
