Chapter 3

Which way do you take?

The Large Lily Pads!

You find the large lily pads to be more welcoming than the other possible routes and decide to hop on top of them. They are the best for travel and will keep you relatively dry as long as you stay aboard them. Coming to the edge of the ground you stand on, you test one of the closest lily pads using a ginger foot to make sure they will even work. It holds, and so you lean more weight onto it before letting it all drop forward and taking another step so that you stand on the center of the disk plant. And to your amazement, it not only holds up to the weight of a person, but barely even bobs or moves, as if a fixed to the tip of a metal pole underneath.

The realization encourages you to have a little fun, momentarily amuse yourself as you hop from pad to pad like a frog. You chuckle under your breath, each jump getting a bit more careless, and not needing much effort with home many pads are in close proximity to each other. But eventually, a slide across a slick pad forces you to over jumping one and nearly fall of into a thick pile of excrement you hope is human, catching yourself by firmly smacking your toes into the side of the pad's rim and being lucky it didn't capsize or that you even managed to straighten yourself enough to stop. Needless to say, it snaps you out of your playful mood, and you step across the vegetation carefully, each one shaking gently to your foot steps with large rings echoing across the dirty bubbling water under them. How any plant could survive living in such foul water is beyond you.

You eventually come across a sort of dip or mini waterfall to a lower level of the swamp. It's at least a four foot drop that curves around with more slopes and cliffs that pour water into the lower half. Below the bustling brook of brown is an old large fishing boat that's seems to have wrecked itself in the swamp. It rests against a bed of rocks near the bottom of this water feature with a mast protruding up from the deck, though snapped in half and falling off toward the starboard side, only held to the boat by a few splinters in the snap, and the ropes loosely latched to either side of the top with metal hooks. The other sight of note is the building part of the ship taking up the back half of the deck with a ladder leading to the top where the wheel can be found, each side of the roof lined with metal railing. You stop to question for a moment how such a boat could have even got into the swamp, but eventually brush it off as unimportant.

The lily pads continue on further left, but you might be able to make it down to the boat if you are up for some mild climbing. There might be treasure or supplies inside, or the slight possibility of a trap or monster.

Do you inspect the ship?
