Chapter 4

Do you inspect the ship?

Yes! (Always Up For A Bit Of Plundering)

It would be a huge help if you could find anything aboard the ship in the form of supplies. Fishing boats must extra boots or coats lying around along with maybe nets, fishing pools, and blunt instruments like rowing oars. You have a sword of course, but it's never a bad idea to have a back up, especially when you didn't have enough money to buy a spare dagger for emergencies.

You reach your right hand for the edge of the cliff-like drop, grabbing onto the rocky border that holds in this level of swamp until it trickles down the slightly lower ledge near your left, making the thin waterfall. It takes some time, but soon you manage to steady both feet onto the slick rock and can now start working your way down from there. One foot first, try to find purchase that won't cut the rock climbing short before you true the slot it rests in and let your other foot find another one. With how careful you take the climbing, it does eat up a good bit if your time, but you avoid spilling and falling from the rocks and can eventually just drop yourself right onto the tip of the deck that is partially split from its impact.

The boat has obviously seen better days as its metal railings and drawings have rusted over while the wood body of the turned over mast is taken by rot, the sail swallowed by the waters below. There are no signs of any sailors or bones, no remains to be discovered, at least up here, and as far as things can bee seen in this creaky wooden deck, most of the gear besides a large cage trap and a few withered life preservers is missing. You get closer to the structure half of the ship, the ladder coated in rust almost absolutely, and the steering wheel missing chunks of wood all over. Though, there is a door too the interior of the ship, resting in the structure part just below the main wheel, but from the looks of it, it seems rusted shut and blocked with a metal pole in the handle, the second possibly a deliberate action.

Why would someone block the door? Maybe there's something valuable left within that they thought they could come back for at a later date, stashed away for safety, or maybe something was left inside, something they really didn't want to get out. But you won't know if the door stays shut. It might take a bit if effort, but you could always give into curiosity and look for yourself.

Do you open it?
