Chapter 8 by 11kestrels 11kestrels

What happens next?

The Kanamit list

A few days later, the Kanamits finalized their list of the first lucky candidates for the exchange program. Julia was excited to find out that she was one of the lucky ones who were first chosen. However, Julia's roommate was not chosen, and so they spent the better part of the month before takeoff saying goodbye to each other. Yes, they were lovers and best friends, and they found parting with each other unbearable.

The roommate, whose name is Morgan Jones, was also an expert in ancient languages. She was put in charge of translating the Kanamit book. To her, that was an adventure in itself. From her studies, she figured out the Kanamit language was very close in nature to the ancient Aztecs. It never dawned on her once she had translated the title of the book that there was something amiss. She was too excited and fascinated to think twice. "To Serve Man: How to Subjugate Others to Man's Will" was the exact title she translated. She delved deeper into the book, painfully translating it, until she made a startling discovery.

The day of Morgan Jones' discovery of the true nature of the Kanamit book was the day the first humans were scheduled to leave for Kanamit. Now she knew what was odd about the choices the Kanamits had made from the lists of those who wanted to be part of the exchange program. Not one of them was a male! They were all females!

Morgan hopped into her car, and raced as fast as she could to the Kanamit departure area. She pulled up at the front gate just in the nick of time. She walked through the gate, and into the departure area. What she saw astounded her. A crowd of women waited patiently for the boarding ramp of the Kanamit ship to open. She knew it was now or never. Then she spotted Julia. She made her way through the throngs of women to reach her, to warn her.

Morgan stumbled into Julia's arms, out of breath. The horror in her eyes was clearly visible. She slowly regained her composure, and spoke. "Julia, you can't go! The Kanamits are not who they seem to be!"

Julia laughed. "What do you mean they're not who they seem to be?"

"I translated enough of the book to discover their true intentions. They serve Man by training women to submit to them!"

Julia looked at her friend in shock. "You're sure about this?"

"Positive!" came Morgan's answer. But by then, it was too late. The loading ramp descended from the Kanamit ship, and women started making their way forward.

Julia found herself caught up in the surging crowd, and she was slowly being herded toward the Kanamit ship.

Morgan stood there, watching in horror as women were forcefully stripped of their clothing before disappearing inside the ship.

"Morgan Jones," came an unfamiliar voice from in back of her. She turned around the stranger. There before her stood a Kanamit. "I'm sorry, but you know too much. You will have to come with us."

Morgan knew she had **** as the Kanamit was pointing a weapon of some unknown origin at her. "Fine," she replied indignantly. "But I can take off my own clothes."

"By all means, take them off," the Kanamit smiled. He watched closely as Morgan removed her sun dress, then her shoes. She unhooked her bra, and shrugged it off her shoulders, allowing it to fall on top of her dress. Last, her panties came off. The Kanamit appraised her. "You are a very beautiful specimen," he said. "You will make some man a very happy person once we have trained you." He toggled a device on his wrist, and they both vanished.

Meanwhile Julia watched in horror as the women before her were stripped naked, relieved of their belongings, and pushed into the ship. There was no way out of this, for the Kanamits had cut off any possible escape. All the women could do was keep moving forward, be stripped, and thrown onto the ship.

Julia's turn finally came. She was relieved of her suitcase of belongings, then forcefully stripped naked. Her tattered clothes lay at her naked feet in a heap. She remained stoic throughout the process. She didn't want to give the Kanamits any satisfaction. Then she was pushed inside the ship, and taken directly to her cubicle of a room.

Julia was startled from her reverie. The small door opened, and a tray of food slid inside. She got up from her bed, and retrieved the tray, setting it down on the small table they had given her. Then the top of the door opened to reveal the face of a Kanamit.

The Kanamit looked at Julia and smiled. "I have a surprise for you," he said. "One that I hope will make your day a little better, and your future a little brighter."

"Do you really think anything could brighten my day, or my future?" she shot back sarcastically.

"Your friend and lover Morgan is also here. I have been ordered to move both of you to a bigger quarters where you will be allowed to conjugate. We may even allow you to stay together throughout your training. Would you like that?"

Julia's faced beamed with surprise. "Yes, I'd like that very much!" For the first time during their voyage, Julia actually had something to smile about.

"Eat your dinner," the Kanamit softly said. "I will bring you to her after you finished."

For Julia Chambers, a quick rise to the top ended up as a hard fall to the bottom. But who knows what can be overcome by love? It's just another mystery, here in The Twilight Zone.
