Chapter 17 by Myspareaccount369890 Myspareaccount369890

What happens next?

The Inevitable

You wake up to the horrible sound of something water hitting the inside of a metal bowl as someone violently groans out. You look over your bed to see Veronica; her face inside the, thankfully, once empty pot as she was crouched over still naked after last night.

“Are you alright?” You ask, a silly question.

“No... I feel awful...” she says weakly as she peered her head upwards. “I need to see the physician.” She says to you, a look of sadness and concern on her face.

You help gather your clothes as you try to comfort her while she continued to be sick, rubbing her back gently. As the wave of sickness passed, Veronica composed herself quickly as you both leave your chambers.

“I’ll quickly wash myself before heading to the physician’s room.” Veronica tells you, you nod your head, you almost want to lean in for a kiss as you’ve always do but you both decide to hold off.

You attend your councils, meetings and discussions with your advisors, all while thoughts of her remain at the back of your mind.

“We’ve kept an eye on our boarders with neighbouring kingdoms” Dietrich stated “There are however concerns over security, appears that bandits are raiding certain points in our defences to the west.”

“Tell the other lords to recruit more men and strengthen their positions.” You suggest looking outside the window.”

“Is there something on your mind, your grace?” Benjamin asked.

“No, I’m just thinking about this all.” You reply.

“These are stressful times.” Dietrich replied.

“Indeed, we need to be caution, there are enemies looking to poke and test us.” Benjamin stated.

The rest of the day goes on as normal, you attend more meetings with council men, lords, community leaders and diplomats.

Until that night, you arrive at your chambers and sit on the edge of the bed, waiting for the door to open anxiously. There was a click and squeeze of the door as Veronica enters the room, though not in the seductive way she usually would. Instead she is serious.

“What did the physician say?” You ask concerned and impatient.

“Love...” she said “Turns out our little arrangement has served its purpose.” A cryptic answer.

“What do you mean?” You ask.

“I’m with child.” Veronica stated “obviously.”

How do you react?
