The Conference Room

You are drawn to the prospect of a firefight, and cautiously approach the Conference Room, listening for further gunshots. After a minute passes, it becomes clear that there aren’t going to be any more bullets fired in the near future, so you kick the door open and roll in once more, ready to fire.

You instantly realise that there are no living bodies to shoot out. Instead, collapsed on the other side of the room, behind the polished desk and ergonomic chairs, you see a fresh corpse on the ground. It is a European looking man with a gun in hand, dressed in a sharp suit. This was not a clean kill like the other was. There are multiple bloodstains blooming all over his formerly white shirt, and the walls are marked with bullets, the smell of gunpowder still thick in the air. His clothing is ripped in several pieces, and it looks like this fight was close, physical, and messy.

A wallet, riffled through and discarded to the side, confirms your suspicions. The man known as Alejandro De Dios is dead. Worse - a USB shaped space in his wallet is empty. Somebody must have taken the USB moments after De Dios was killed. Where is the killer? The broken window on the other end of the room draws your attention next, attached to which you see a heavy rope streaming all the way down to the street level.

In the distance, you see a rapidly shrinking figure, who discards what looks like rappelling gear off to the side. There is no doubt in your mind that this is De Dios’ killer, and they came prepared for this mission. Worse, they must have gotten to the USB mere moments before you would have. Time is running out if you want to follow this person. You have to make the decision now - investigate the rest of the warehouse before De Dios’ organisation can come in and erase all the evidence, or give chase to the USB before you lose its trail again?
