How Do Things Proceed?
The Chests and the Statue
Evan and Clr'klinsa entered the room looked around a bit before heading to the chests, Evan took the chests on the right while Clr'klinsa took the chests on the left. Both entered the room carefully, it didn't seem like there were any traps. When Evan went to the chests on the right and opened the first chest he found what looked like a clockwork rod along with a backpack and bedroll and 50 feet of rope, he felt something like a controlled shock when he picked up the rod; when he opened the second chest he found a set of travelers clothes and a tinder box along with a light crossbow and case of 20 bolts for the crossbow, there was also a mess kit inside the chest; the third chest had pair of amulets, one bronze and the other iron; and the fourth chest just had a scroll with a note that read "the cosmos is nothing more than a giant mechanism" with nothing else.
Clr'klinsa's investigation revealed her chain shirt and pendant shield and holy symbol (a cracking dragon claw painted on her shield's face); the second chest held her War Pick and 5 javelins and her set of bone dice; the third chest held her backpack and bedroll and a tinder box; the 4th chest contained a mess kit, a day's worth of rations, and 10 torches.
After looking over everything, Evan and Clr'klinsa headed over to the statue to see if they could figure out what sort of purpose it served, and the nature of the puzzle it was part of. When they both got closer they noticed the shelves held what were effectively different body feature parts for statues, in a variety of different materials, from what appeared to be a variety of races. There were draconic eyes, elven eyes, human eyes, canine eyes, quite a few different cat eyes, human ears, a variety of different elf ears, bovine ears, wolf ears, a variety of dog ears, a variety of different cat ears, even some deer ears, and elk ears, mouths with teeth from a variety of races and creatures (most of which neither was all too familiar with), a variety of tongues from different races creatures (with a quite a few surprises for both of them). Looking over at the door, all Evan and Clr'klinsa saw etched into it were a set of characters neither was familiar with, they were likely a clue, but the script was in a language neither could read. The two started bouncing around ideas as to what language was written on the door, suggestions of some kind of demonic script or draconic language were kicked around, probably not the language of angels since it didn't give off that sort of aura, but the idea of being the orcish language was taken into consideration, and a variety of other languages they were aware of but never actually seen written (and occasionally never even heard spoken) were discussed at considerable length. The debate went on for what felt like hours, but in actuality probably only lasted about half an hour.
