The Ace, the 9, & the 4.

Even though Jessica projected the persona of the stereotypical dumb blonde, she was actually fairly smart. However, having found herself in the middle of a strip-poker game due to a spur-of-the-moment impulse, she was feeling a bit flustered.

So she could be forgiven for actually having discarded the Ace, the only decent card in her hand, & keeping the 6 & 7 of diamonds.

Flustered or not, Jessica drew into a hand that most poker players who regularly played 5-card draw saw maybe once in 10 years. When Jessica looked at her cards, she saw:

8 of diamonds

7 of diamonds

6 of diamonds

5 of diamonds

4 of diamonds

Holy---!!!!! Jessica couldn't believe she'd drawn an 8-high straight flush. When she laid down her hand, the other 3 were also speechless, almost to the point that they forgot to check for the low hand that round.

The low hand ended up being Bev, who took off both her sandals. "That's right," Jessica reminded herself. "Shoes count as 1 item, & accessories such as jewelry don't count at all." Jessica sincerely hoped that she hadn't blown all her luck in that first hand.

Having the obvious high hand, Jessica dealt out the next round of cards.
