Meanwhile...
That Strange Scent
The full moon illuminated the mansion outside, shining its blue light upon the forest nearby and the front of the building. Several owls can be heard from afar hooting and staring, awaiting for their prey. From within the bottom floor window two mates can be seen and heard in an act of consummation. Two floors above them, sat alone on the rooftop tiles stood a lone wolf girl, enjoying the sound of nature and solitude.
The nearby window slid up and out peaked in a brunette woman, curious to know why her guest opted to be outside. Opening her mouth she had remained silent, second guessing herself before climbing out and onto the space next to her. Reta's ear flicked as the woman grunted and struggled crawling by without losing her grip till finally she managed. With a heavy sigh, she thought carefully of the words to come.
"So, whatcha doing here?"
The werewolf shrugged. "Felt like being outside, needed time to think."
"Oh. May I ask about what?"
She sighed before leaning back and glancing at the stars. "About everything and nothing all at once. It's a mess."
"I mean, I would assume so with you being a wolf and all." Janette mentioned, shifting slightly. "Which I have been meaning to ask now... how did that happen? I understand you weren't born a monster girl so-"
"Most girls aren't, really. I'd say most girls are like you and me, just sometimes we get in trouble or trouble finds us. To me, that answer is so..." She pouted, struggling with her thoughts. "Jinsei wa muzukashī. I just want to be alone right now."
Janette stared at her from the side, nodding her head and lifting herself up from the tiles. Reta meanwhile kept her gaze up into the full moon, briefly closing her eyes and breathing in. Whatever thoughts troubled her, it would take more than a few words to work through. Finding nothing else to do or say, Janette looked around before accepting her words. Within a minute, she was back inside.
Twitch
Reta's ear flicked before something attracted her. A sort of faint smell slipped into her, disrupting her momentarily as her eyes opened up. Sniffing the air, she smelled more of that, that strange scent. Janette turned around in time to catch the wolf staring suspiciously into the forest, something definitely caught her attention.
"What?"
She shushed her, now lifting her form up on all fours before sniffing one more time. Without warning, the wolf lept from her post and landed softly on her paws, running off into the thick black blanket that surrounded their home. Janette stared with wide eyes, her hands stuck to the window frame as her guest just up and ran off.
What was it that caught her like that?
