Test the waters

You're still short some confidence but have resolved to embrace and test this new found - skill? power? oddity of life? - and grab a few supplies. A post-it note and a pen is all you need for now. You scribble a quick message, striving to make it as large as can fit on the small piece of paper.

Lame for sure, but it's not going to get you in trouble if things go south. You're definitely going to get at a few odd looks, though. Taking a deep breath, you slap the note to your chest and step out your door to go to leave the apartment building.

Just before you make it outside, you see the elderly woman from down the hall. You've helped Mrs. Juarez carry in her groceries a number of times. "Sweetie!" She calls out as you pass. You suspect that she calls you that because she can't actually remember your name. You stop to face her. Immediately, her face takes on a look of concentration as she squints at your note. It only takes her a moment before her face breaks out in a smile and starts to shuffle over to you.

Thinking quickly, you stick out your cheek where she plants a chaste kiss before giving you a pat. "Such a nice, young man." She smiles at you and trundles off. You notice a bit of a spring in her step. It strikes you just how happy she is suddenly. "I did that to her," you think to yourself.

Smiling now yourself, you finally exit the building and head towards the busier side of the city. In order to avoid repeating the unintended event from earlier, you place your hand over the note as you walk. You look ridiculous but it works. You finally find a nice looking lass to test it on, but she is with another man who is clearly her boyfriend. They're holding hands as they chat and walk down the sidewalk towards you.

Deciding it's now of never, you stand directly in their path and puff out your chest a bit so as to draw attention to the note. The couple approaches. As they go to move around, both sets of eyes flicker to your note. The man, initially gives you a dirty look, but says nothing. The pretty blonde's face lights up and leans in for a kiss. You immediately press your lips to hers, holding the back of her head for a deep, wet kiss. "Mmmmmm..." you both moan lightly.

When you finally do let her go, she smiles and giggles at you and then turns to her boyfriend who is smiling at her as well. "Good job, babe!" he says to her. They both kind of bob their heads at you and resume their walk.

You stand there stunned for a moment. You can't believe how well that worked. Test complete, you take off your note and decide for something a little more serious.
