Chapter 9 by Deschain5585 Deschain5585

What's next?

Tell her (his) version of the truth

To thrive, a predatory species puts their survival before all else, and Dagaz was nothing if not a predator now. Truth, compassion, regret. Weak emotions displayed by those too pitiful to dominate those below them.

He was now something that had taken him beyond Mankind, beyond mortal and into realms far beyond.

He had evolved. Transformed into a separate, far more predatory species. No longer Homo Sapien, but Homo Sapiens Sanguineus. He was superior to Humanity, or so he would be led to believe.

"Well, Ava did you say it was?"

She nodded.

"Well Ava. That's a very pretty name by the way. French parents? No? Ah well." he shrugged with a sigh. "What we have here you see is a perfect example of the phrase 'the wrong place, at the wrong time' I'm afraid. You should probably be feeling afraid too right about now I would have thought. Smart girl."

There was genuine fear in the girl's eyes now, the primal fight or flight instinct that all creatures have was screaming at her that there was imminent danger, that she should run if she wanted to survive. She had to fight her own body to get it to move, the effects of the night before still lingered in her system, dulling her senses and stifling her reactions to almost a crawl.

"Do you know anything about lions Ava? Do you know what happens when the head lion gets killed by one of the young lions? Do you know what the lionesses do? They go straight into heat for the new head of the family. Dead hubby's laying on the grass, all the cubs have been slaughtered, and suddenly everybody's singing 'Can you feel the love tonight?' Do you know where you are? Unfortunately, this here is the Lions den."

Dagaz was so close to her that he could count the tiny little freckles that decorated her face. Her make up had smeared a little, half from being on the floor, half from crying. He lent in closer, like an old lover moving in for a farewell kiss. His lips almost brushing her ear, he whispered the words that finally broke her paralysis and caused her to flee.

He could feel the sharp pressure of his new fangs pressing against his bottom lip. As he let them show, Ava shook with fear, trembling beneath his grip. The two elongated incisors were delicate, about half an inch long and curved ever so slightly, all the better to serve the purpose they were designed for.

"Do you want to play lions?'

Her tears started to stream down her face, leaving little dark trickles of mascara down her cheeks. As the warmth of them ran unbidden from her eyes, it was as if a spell had been broken. Her adrenaline kicked in just enough for her to move. She ran, trying in vain to escape her fate. Dagaz let her attempt to flee, he was in no rush to apprehend her. His mother had always told him not to play with his food, but who cared, the miserable bitch was dead now anyway, and he couldn't have been happier. He'd made good use of her inheritance, the luxurious apartment below being just a small part of what it had gotten him.

Having taken his gaze from his prey during the few seconds he'd reminisced, Dagaz had managed to lose sight of her. No matter, he knew there was no way off the roof for her, and he knew that eventually she would discover that fact too. He wasn't worried, with his newly heightened senses, he had no trouble discerning where she was. But he maintained the illusions of the chase, hyping her fear.

"I can smell your fear in the air. Like honey, and fresh cut lilies." He practically purred his words out as he stalked her across the rooftop. "You smell of desperation and tears, do you know that? Of cheap scotch and expensive perfume. It's a little intoxicating if I'm being honest. And why shouldn't I be? It's only us up here after all. But that's not your usual perfume is it - there's another one underneath. A special scent for last night maybe. Hoping to impress someone, were you?"

Taking his time, Dagaz made his way slowly towards where Ava was hiding. He found her trying desperately to make her way towards the fire escape ladder that went down the side of the building. Unfortunately for her, that particular means of escape had been broken for the better part of 2 years. The complex's maintenance crew hadn't deemed it a priority to fix in any hurry, figuring that in the event there was a fire, it was highly unlikely anyone would actually need to use the escape from the roof. The only people who regularly visited the roof were those who smoked anyway, and if a fire did break out, it would probably be their fault. It would have been a special kind of karma if a stray cigarette had started a blaze, and they couldn't escape it due to their own laziness.

By the time the poor girl became aware of her dilemma, it was too late. Dagaz abandoned any pretence of trying to be stealthy, she had nowhere to run to at this point, so he deliberately let himself be heard. He closed the distance in seconds, and she was his.

Ava spun at the sound of him approaching behind her, terrified. If she'd have been a fraction faster, the scream building in her throat might have managed to escape before Dagaz had her by the throat and pinned her hard to the wall. It died in her chest before it could take flight, and as a second hand clamped itself tight over her mouth, she gave up any hint of calling for aid, futile as it likely was for anyone to be able to hear her this high up.

"It's a shame you ran Ava. The night is young, there's a beautiful girl, and somebody's going to die." His thumb came up, gently caressing her cheek as he wiped away a tear. "That's you, by the way."

'Now, do I make this fast or slow? Take my time and really savour it, or just get it over with.' he thought to himself. 'You only ever get one shot at your first try. What happens if I don't do it right?'

But then he remembered he must have already done it, unless Ysabelle was the one who'd fed earlier on the girl. But no he thought, he had been the one with blood on his lips, so it must have been him. Which meant that somehow, he'd known what to do. Instinctively perhaps. Well, he'd fed for the first time and didn't remember. That was a little disappointing. But he'd known from the moment he'd turned and locked the roof door what the final outcome of this scenario would be, and it involved only one of the two people up here walking back down to his apartment.

He couldn't let her live. She knew who, and what he was. Well maybe not exactly what, but she'd have to have been brain dead to still think he was human. That much was certain. Even if she'd have gotten on her knees and sworn she would keep his secret, there would always be that glimmer of possibility that she would expose him. Put enough distance and time between herself and him, and her fear may eventually fade. Better to be certain of her silence.

He'd settled on quick, having no wish to toy with her any more now she had been caught. The game was up, he was the winner, and to the victor went the spoils. A smile crept across his face, even as his prize continued to squirm beneath his iron like grasp, futilely trying to escape her fate.

"Sshh, Shh. It's all going to be OK, I promise. I promise. I'm going to take my hand away from your mouth in a moment. Don't scream. If you do, the hand goes back on, you understand?" She nodded, not an easy thing to achieve with a hand wrapped tight around your throat. Dagaz slowly released his hand over her mouth, and eased the pressure of his hand from her throat slightly. She began greedily trying to suck down mouthfuls of cool early morning air between sobs.

"I'll make it quick." Dagaz said, stroking her hair in an effort to comfort her. "I promise." If he was being completely honest with himself, he probably would make it quick. But not out of kindness. He could feel the sun dangerously close to cresting the horizon now. Time was a luxury he would soon be unable to afford less he wanted to face the oncoming sunrise. Using the hand that gripped her neck, he angled it ever so slightly, tilting it to expose more of her throat to his sight.

There.

He could see the dark artery moving beneath the skin, could see her pulse was racing with fear as it strained to pump blood from her heart to her brain. Her heart was working harder than usual to **** the blood past Dagaz's grip around her throat, causing her blood pressure to have risen dangerously high.

He struck, teeth finding their target on his first attempt, thin skin giving way easily under the **** of his bite. Warm arterial blood sprayed into his mouth, the taste rushed over his tongue, and Dagaz let himself get lost under its heady wave.

It was like sex. No better than sex. Was there something better than sex? Probably not, but this had to come a close second at the very least. Her stolen blood filled him, rushing to his brain, to his muscles. To his cock. Dagaz felt himself grow hard as he fed, the pure ecstasy of the feed swelling his erection in his pants. He could feel the blood slipping down his throat as he gulped greedily, **** not to waste a drop of the glorious warm liquid. It tasted a little like pennies, like putting a copper coin in your mouth and sucking, but even that description fell flat of how it truly tasted in that moment. But even as he continued to feed, he could begin to feel the spurts beginning to slow though. Ava's heart couldn't take much more, and even if it could there was precious little blood left for it to pump. The sensation of taking her last few drops of blood, of feeling her heart finally give out sent him over the edge and into a crescendo. He felt himself cum in his pants, as he tore his mouth away from her throat they were both left a wet sticky mess.

After licking the last few stray drops of blood that had managed to escape his lips from Ava's neck, Dagaz lowered her to the floor. Standing over her, he couldn't help but notice that in **** she seemed even smaller than she had in life. She would tell no-one of him now, his newly acquired vampiric secret would remain safe. But now he had a new problem. What the hell was he going to do with her corpse...
