Talking before lunch

"Hi" you said to Luci with a smile.

"Hello" Luci said, her cheeks red, her eyes not meeting yours.

"Luciana, please" Iris said as she came back in carrying a tray with coffee and tea, "say hello to Carmen's boyfriend properly."

With some effort the young woman looked up at you and gave you a smile. She was gorgeous, but a little young for your tastes. And, of course, your girlfriend's sister. "It's nice to meet you, John" she said. Then she sat down next to her dad, eyes on her hands folded in her lap.

"So, what do you do for a living?" Iris asked.

"I just graduated from college" you told her, "so I'm kind of looking for a job."

"Where did you go?" she asked next. You indicated Carmen.

"Same as Carmen" you said.

"Is that where you met?" Fernando said.

"No, actually" Carmen said. "John started playing volleyball not too long ago, so we met there."

"Wait, hang on, there's a Doe in your team, isn't there?" Iris asked her daughter, who nodded.

"That's my baby sister, Dawn" you said with a smile.

"Really? I didn't know that" Iris said. You got to talking about Dawn, volleyball, and some other things until it was one in the afternoon. At that point, Fernando spoke up.

"John, will you be staying for lunch?" he asked.

"That'd be great, thanks" you said with a smile.

"It's decided then, you're staying over. I'll go get something nice from the deli" he said. "Luci, will you come with me?"

"Alright, daddy" the teen said, getting up after her dad. She shot you a final look before walking into the kitchen. Before long you heard the back door opening then closing and heard a car pull out.

"So, now that your dad and sister are gone, Carmen, I need to know something" Iris said.

"Yeah, mom?" she asked.

"Are you doing it safely?" her mom wanted know.

"Yeah, mom" Carmen said. "We've only had sex once, anyway."

"Just once?" Iris asked, obviously incredulous.

"Yeah, mom" Carmen said. You were a little weirded out by the conversation, but apparently they were very open about that kind of thing in this household.

"Really?" Iris said, looking at you before turning back to her daughter. "If I were you.." she said.

"Mom, please. You've got dad. I don't need you ogling my boyfriend too" Carmen replied.

"Too?" Iris asked.

"Come on mom, Luci's smitten with him. You know she's not shy at all" Carmen said.

Iris grinned. "Well, that way he has a spare" she said.

"Mom! Come on!" Carmen exclaimed. Her outraged face assumed an impish grin as she took your hand. "He's mine and nobody else's. Not Luci's, not yours, mine" she said.

"Alright, alright, forget I said anything" Iris said with a grin of her own. So that's where Carmen got it from. You didn't mind teasing, not in the least. Certainly not from a beautiful woman like Carmen...or Iris. "Come on guys, let's set the table."
