You take a deep breath. There's no reason to be worried, you remind yourself, it's just like talking to girls. Not that you're that much better at that, but still.
"Hi, I'm Eliza." you say, wishing that you didn't have to turn away from one to talk to the other.
"Frederic. He's Francois."

You think that you're probably going to have some trouble telling them apart.
"So," Francois says, "Are your parents magic too?"
"No, they think I'm going to a normal college."
"Our mother is."
"But father isn't."
"We got his looks though."
"Oh," you say, "He must be handsome." You realize what you said when you notice Frederic looking surprised, and maybe a little embarrassed.
"So," he says, changing the subject, "have you learned any magic yet?"
"No, I'm looking forward to it, but so far, I've-"
"Witches and wizards in training," a calm voice, like someone speaking quietly, only much louder, interrupts you. Whoever's speaking really knows how to project. "I am Headmistress Kess." She pronounces it "Head Mistress", but you don't notice. "You have all come here to deepen your understanding of magic, but also, I remind you, to deepen your understanding of your classmates. For this purpose, as always, students are required to form Bathas, to foster cooperation between the Houses. I also remind you not to focus so much on getting to know your friends that you forget to go to final exams. Petunia, Alex, Peter, Xavier, Eli, Francine, George." She looked from table to table, presumably at the students who had done that. "The first year students can only go into town on weekends, and all students must have permission from a professor before leaving campus. Duels are permitted only when supervised by a professor who has agreed to the duel. You are not allowed to hurt your opponent, or fellow students. I can't even believe I need to say that. Finally, I encourage you to ask for help whenever anything goes wrong. Both myself, and your heads of house are always available. We won't judge you, we have seen worse, and we won't tell you about it. There is a door to my office in common areas of every house, and for those of you who notice that that's impossible... welcome to Alexandria, try not to get lost." There's some applause, and people begin to get food and eat.
You chat with them while you eat, gradually feeling more comfortable with them. You feel almost like a different person, bold and confident. By the time the meal is finished, you three are talking like the best of friends. They also showed you a small object that seems a lot like a smartphone, but magic.
Once everyone stopped eating, the two students who seem to be in charge stand up. "Alright, follow us, and we'll take you to the Toscra dorms. Try to memorize the way."

The route to the dorms is complicated, and you're distracted by the twins, but you're sure that you'll be able to find your way back without any trouble.
When you get to the common area, you're told that there are little cards on one of the tables with everyone's name on one side, and their room number on the back, with a key taped to it. Everyone's luggage is in the common area when you get there, having been sent there when you arrived, probably not by magic, as you still need to haul it to your room.
"Aren't you going to get your card?" Francois asks.
"Oh, I'm not good with crowds, so I'll wait a bit."
"I'll get it for you." Frederic offers, and the pair push their way to the table, and come back with their cards, and yours.
"You're in room 198." Frederic tells you, handing you the card.
"Thanks."
"See you later, I guess." Francois says.
"Or we could help carry your things." Frederic suggests.
You could also hang out with them a little longer in their room, or just arrange to meet up once you're done setting up your rooms.
