Take the car and go.

Your excited classmate drives at a brisk 75mph down the lonely highway, out to the nature preserves just outside the city. There are no lights and few road signs out here, but a faint orange glow in the distance keeps Mandy on the right track. A few minutes later you feel the vehicle rocking back and forth as Mandy steers up a sharp incline. The engine roars and the surprisingly powerful van lumbers its way up an unpaved hillside. Then, with the fiery light shining its brightest, Mandy pulls the car over next to a tree and sternly sets the parking break. "Okay, she mutters, "this is it."

As soon as you set foot outside the car you are struck by a gust of hot, burning wind. It feels like your very own lungs are ablaze as you take in the scorching air. "Are you okay?" Mandy calls, herself coughing and spitting from the airborne ash. You wipe the tears from your eyes and reply affirmatively. A moment later you can breath more or less normally, though no breath to follow is any more pleasant than the first.

Then, standing at the hill's peak, it becomes clear that acres and acres of the forest are being consumed by fire. But a wall of black smoke hinders your view of the fallen object-- that is, if the object has not already burned up or shattered into a million particles. The only way to know for sure is to descend and see for yourselves. Though Mandy-- for the first time-- seems frightened. Truth be told: this is a dangerous place.
