Susan Bones

As I turned to sit at the table, I saw Susan Bones a few steps behind me. "Harry?" she said.

"Yes, Susan?"

She came closer to me and said, "I just wanted to thank you."

"For what?"

"Your warning saved my aunt's life."

I thought for a moment then I realized - "Oh, your aunt is Amelia Bones?"

"Yes, that's right. She's the only other family I have left. I never found a chance to get you alone until now and I knew I couldn't miss this chance to thank you."

"Well, you could have thanked me anytime," I said. "It's not like privacy was necessary."

She fidgeted and fisted her robes in one hand. "If I just wanted to say thank you, sure. But I wanted to really thank you."

I sat there and something in me said to ask. So I asked her, "So how did you want to thank me? Whatever it is, like you said, we're alone now so go ahead."
