Surprise

"It was a group of our own," he mumbled, trying to keep his voice down. "A group of Sentinals." Rethdrian's eyes went wide. Never before had she heard of such a thing within the confines of their home atop the massive tree. "The ambushed me while I was on the road. They said I could give them the package and live or die trying to defend it."

"And so you surrendered," she said with disdain.

"I wouldn't have done anyone any good if I were dead! It is because I chose the option that I can inform you about it."

She couldn't really argue with that logic, but kept the edge in her voice to extract all the information she would need. "What is in the package?"

"I don't know."

"Why didn't you take this information to the guards?"

"I was told to speak to no-one about it."

"And I am no-one?" she asked with a slight hiss. He didn't know much, and his lack of decisiveness was getting on her nerves. "Just give me the location of where they robbed you and I'll bring it back, provided there is a reward waiting for my trouble."

The young man assured her there would be and gave her a map with the location roughly marked. "I made an arrow in the ground marking which way they left as soon as they were out of sight," he said in an attempt to be helpful. Rethdrian simply gave a huff and walked off. This would prove to be interesting.
