Stumble upon a witch

Lyra travelled around the nearby villages, learning about the people who lived there, and doing odd jobs for them.

After a few tussles with wild animals and bandits she was feeling more capable. She a gift for this. She was fast and skilled with the blade and bow. A few weeks passed, and she heard of a beast in the eastern woods; an owlbear, a huge creature of thick muscle and tough hide. Lyra thought she could take it, and show the locals she really was destined to be a hero.

She was wrong.

She found the owlbear easily enough, it's huge size made tracking it simple; as it left a trail of destruction in its wake.

She got close, aimed her arrow at a soft spot between it's limbs, let loose... and the arrow bounced right off.

Two more arrows flew through their air, bouncing lamely off the creatures hide, as it barreled towards her, tearing through the trees.

The creature roared and swung it's huge clawed fists. Lyra dodged one blow, and stabbed her dagger intos hand with all her might, drawing blood.

The beasts second blow struck Lyra hard, knocking her through the air and instantly breaking her leg. She hit the ground and cried out, whimpering as she shuffled across the forest floor, trying desperately to reach the sword that had flown out of her grip.

The beast caught up to her first, pinning her down and tearing her flesh. Lyras world went red, her senses flooded with pain. Her vision began to fade.

Suddenly, a bright light blasted through Lyras vision. The creature roared, and ran.

Lyra was quickly losing consciousness, her blood spreading out across the forest floor as she lay dying helplessly.

The last thing she saw before she faded into darkness, was a woman leaning over her. The most beautiful woman she had ever seen, glowing with divine light.
