Story Time

"Amia, could you tell me more about the other Gods?" Jen asked, as the two divine girls laid down and cuddled.

"Of course Jen," Amia replied. "I'll tell you a story about Erasmus, who was God when you were born..."

Myself and all the other angels were worried. God had asked for some privacy, which he did from time to time, only this time, he hadn't left his room in weeks. Eventually I worked up the courage to see if he was alright.

"Lord?" I asked as I knocked on the door to his room. "It's Amia. May I come in?"

"Yes," I heard him call from inside. I opened the door slowly, and found that there was very little light in the room. I looked at the bed, and saw God, appearing in the form of a young man, wrapped up under the covers, facing away from me.

"Lord, we're all very worried about you," I told him. "You've not left your room in weeks."

"It's fine. Don't worry."

I sat down next to him on the bed.

"Lord, I know you better than anyone," I said to him. "I know when things most certainly are not fine. Why don't you tell me what's wrong? It's my job to help you after all." God thought about this for a moment, and then spoke.

"Very well. It's a girl," he said.

"What happened?"

"She lives on the planet Janosia. I first noticed her when I was just looking around the universe," God told me. I knew the planet Janosia well; at the time it wasn't religious, aside from some small tribes worshipping the stars. Rule of the planet was cut between the 3 main species, Fuso, Aatii and Swaylocks. Erasmus was the sort of God that loved being worshipped, so why he had any interest in that planet I don't know.

"She seemed beautiful, and I was feeling lonely, so I introduced myself to her," Erasmus told me.

"I know you felt Lord," I said to him. "There's nothing quite like having someone to cuddle up to whom you love, and who loves you back."

"We started dating, and I really liked her. I guess a little too much," A few tears started forming in his eyes. "I asked her to marry me. She told me it was too soon, and she left me."

"Oh...I'm sorry Lord. But I'm sure you can win her back!" I said, trying to cheer him up.

"It's too late, she's met someone else."

"Well Lord, I know you're sad, but you can'y lay here moping for all eternity."

"Of course I can. There's plenty of entertainment. Like yesterday, when I told an old man to sacrifice his son to me. He was about to do it too. You should have seen his face when I told him it was a joke."

"Lord! You can't do that!"

"Why not? My will be done and all that."

"I eventually managed to talk him into coming out and running the universe, but he stayed depressed for a long time," Amia told Jen.

"Wow, that's really sad," Jen said. "Omnipotent, and yet he still couldn't get a girl."
