How does Dan fill it?
Step 1
I contact Charles via our “group chat” (an Interplanar Telepathic Bond spell): ‘Would you be particularly upset if I copied your mega mount?’
‘Not really,’ my goddess replies, ‘I mean, it's all thanks to you that we have this power. It's okay if you use some of it.’
‘Thank you,’ I reply, letting him off the “line” as I add some buffs to myself: All via feats, of course. Animal Ally and the requirement gets me an animal companion of my level minus three… and yes, it has to come first. Next up is Extra Lineage Domain, picking up the Saurian domain, granting me an animal companion of my level minus two from the dinosaur options. Again for the Animal Domain gets another at minus three. Again for the Hunting domain for another at my level minus three… and then Borrowed Power for Mythic Domain ability puts each of the domain-based ones up by four. Eldritch Heritage for the Sylvan Bloodline gets one at my level minus five (so one… but eh, it's free), and Wild Cohort gets me a sixth at my level minus one. Extra Revelation twice for Primal Companion (Lunar Mystery) and Bonded Mount (Nature Mystery) nets me two more at full progression. Monstrous Mount merges them, so that ends up with an effective Druid level of forty three, which means thirty three hit dice (and six more for every additional level I attain)… once I spend a day to summon her. There's some specific Alteration talents I'll need to give her… but before then, I'll need to secure my victim. And to do that, I need an audience with the Queen.
And I have one tomorrow.
Before I rest up, I let the party in on my plans, and everyone mulls it over.
Alice responds with, ‘Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.’
Brian goes with, ‘Remind me not to make you angry.’
Charles? ‘Let's give this SoB a dose of his own medicine.’
We rest up, and the next day I present my plans to the Queen, handing my notes over to the court mage as I list things out for her benefit. When I'm done, the wizard objects, “The plans are viable, but I could count on one hand the number of people in the entire kingdom who could pull this off.”
I chuckle, speaking directly, “add four to the list; any of us Cardinal Heroes can pull it off now…” I consider telling the mage I could arrange for any random commoner to be capable of it, but decide against it at the last minute, “we can front the materials,” the complete lack of materials, rather… “and are willing to accept payment when the job is complete, if your concern is that we are not capable.”
“And how long will it last?” The queen seems hooked.
“Until someone similarly capable destroys it,” her court mage answers, “the castle we're standing in is easier to remove.”
“Any particular liabilities we should know about?” The woman on the throne considers.
Her court mage answers, “It must be guarded like anything, but it will be very immobile once completed.” he considers, “think of it like a tunnel or a mountain pass: Once dug, it is where it is, and it takes **** effort to change that to the point where making a new one is simpler than moving the old.”
“So guards at both ends, perhaps some fortifications as well…” she nods. “We will mirror our counterpart on the other side of the mountains this afternoon,” Queen Esmerelda Essex the Eighth smiles, “assuming we can come to an agreement with her, we will be hiring your services.” She considers, “your notes mentioned it is easy to expand?”
“Yes your highness,” I answer, “once we have constructed the main demiplane, each additional exit is about three thousand crowns in spellcasting labor.” I take a breath, “there is a limit to how many such the main plane can support before I need to expand it, but it should be able to accommodate dozens easily.”
The older woman nods, “We will want two, then: One for external trade, one for within the nation… we will consult with our various advisors on locations. Please return in three days’ time, and we will have marked maps and half down for a network within our borders.” She pauses, “Is there anything the four of you desire?”
Charles speaks up, “Yes your Majesty. We understand that slavery is a standard consequence for crimes committed. We would like to purchase Anthony Essex after the completion of his trial… and get a rundown of what rights, if any, he retains after sentencing.”
The queen tilts her head, “He's accused of a capital offense, so if we commute the sentence to slavery, it would be a life sentence, which allows you to do whatever you like. Limited sentences - like the standard six years for breach of a payment contract - would have some clauses about permanent bodily modifications, mind manipulation, crippling injuries, or excessive risks… but those won't apply in this case.” ‘turning him over to the complete control of his victims… I could get behind that as an alternative to execution, he deserves to suffer, given that he's been cheating from day zero,’ she thinks. “If convicted this afternoon and we so commute his sentence… we will have some orders revolving around state secrets, but yes, we can gift him to you, and you can then do with him as you deem fit.”
Yes, I'm still a mind reader.
“Thank you, your Majesty,” Charles bows.
We hang around for the trial, give our testimony, hear testimonials from dozens of the servants… including several that were let go for turning up pregnant… and at the end, get to watch as the man is tattooed… while sedated, as he wouldn't hold still.
And then, he's ours….
What's next?
