The Mask

The wearer of the mask will enter a trance state where several parts of the brain related to critical thought are either shut down or suppressed. Outwardly, subjects will experience slurred speech, impaired motor control, and susceptibility to suggestion. Subjects under the influence of mask will not refuse any order given to them, except if it will obviously bring harm to the subject in question.

Hypnotic Hood

On display is an elaborate headdress (sort of an eyes-wide-shut mask that covers the whole head) often worn by the society's companions. It isn't obvious, but when one wears the headdress it completely blocks out the wearer's senses of sight, hearing, and smell, and muffles their speech so they are effectively gagged. The only sensory information the wearer can receive comes from touch. The experience is incredibly disorienting and leaves the wearer **** for any kind of sensory stimulation. A few minutes of this and any voice echoes in the wearer's head like the voice of god, making it great for conditioning. Only full society members know about a secret spot on the headdress that can be pressed and whispered into for the wearer to hear. The headdress, of course, locks in place.
