Sony walked in, brushing her hair back and closing the door behind her. “Hey rookie, are you hanging in okay?” I held my hand up and ran back to grab the toilet, depositing another round of shots from earlier. “Nice. Don’t worry squirt, you’re not the first new kid I’ve broken in today.” Again with that line. “I thought I was the only new kid?” I asked after some time of spitting and flushing. She shook her head. “You’re the newest but some girl came in a day before you. Similar name too, as if it weren’t confusing enough. You’re Alex yea?” I nod. “Thought so.”

She leaned against the door and stared. “So you feeling better yet after emptying it all out of your system?” “A bit yea, just give me a few minutes please.” I sit against the wall and sigh. “Not what you wanted out of tonight?” She asked. I shook my head. “What did you want?” I shrugged. “I don’t know, I guess I’m just a bit nervous still. I mean the game is fun and it’s a beautiful house but I don’t know anybody here. I don’t know how school will go for me, and I don’t know how if my new friends will stay as my friends or move on to someone better.”

Sony nodded and blew a bubble before going back to chewing gum. “So what? Who cares if you don’t impress the world, you know people catch in quick if you’re putting on an act. Nobody wants to be with someone who is fake, people tend to trust people who are honest to themselves first. Or at least, that’s what I would like to think.” She brushed her hair back a bit and exhaled before exiting out with a brief, “One sec.”

“Is he doing okay?” “Relax, he’s fine. Just emptying out his system that’s all. Bring me a sprite would ya?” She came back inside. “Don’t know what you worry about anyways, we’ve all done shit we ain’t much proud of and try to forget. That’s the good thing about moving somewhere else isn’t it? You get to start fresh, start anew and start over.” I nod. “You moved in here recently?” “Four months back. Happy about it too, I didn’t like my piece of shit school before. People there were assholes and gossip was all they were about. So excited to label people for a laugh.” “Damn.” “Don’t even, I’m glad it happened. I’m glad I left that shithole, it was depressing. You try your best to leave an impact and everything goes haywire. So what if you aren’t the brightest kid? So what if you fall for the wrong guy? You saw an opportunity of happiness and you took it, you took a chance without thinking outside, without looking at the bigger picture that you had no chance with the guy to begin with, that he just wanted a good fuck that night because he was turned down by a school cheerleader, and that one small damn L word would make you fuck up and lose your V card over a guy who just wanted a hole to fuck!”

I sat there looking at her as she recomposed herself, adjusting her skirt a bit and brushing her shirt. “You weren’t goth then were you?” I asked when the door opened and Gabi walked in with a red plastic cup of soda. “Give it to him, it’ll help you settle.” I nod and accept the drink from Gabi. “Thanks Gabs.” “You’re looking better. You wanna stick around or would you rather sit this one out and rest?” “Pretty sure one of these bedrooms should be empty.” Sony added.
