Somewhere safe

As you walk down the street, the phrase 'Raise you kid, and DON't go looking for Zoe.' especially the part 'you don't even know the half of the things we're capable of.' keeps playing over and over inside your head. Not getting yourself into trouble with these people is the smartest course of action you can think of if you're trying to wait out your pregnancy. You need to find safety for both you and the child growing inside your belly. That involves getting away from there, somewhere safe. Then you can go looking for Zoe.

You are lucky enough that there are small towns nearby that wouldn't ask too many questions. You worry if you can manage to work a job in that body of yours. Something will come up, you tell yourself. That's how you convinced your parents to let you pursue your dream of being a drummer. The bus station is just beyond a couple of blocks.

Each step you take though, the air seems to get heavier and heavier. Damn, how can you get that tired again so quickly? You place one hand over your tummy and soldier through your fatigue.

You stop to catch your breath a little bit once you finally reach the station. Soon the first bus arrives.
