Chapter 10 by gunde gunde

What happens?

Smooth, too smooth

Something was wrong, Lara just knew it.
She had gotten past the customs without any troubles whatsoever, they had simply waved her past them.
Now, Lara knew that in most corrupt third-world countries, girls a good-looking as she at least got noticed by corrupt civil servants.
So, someone had paid the guards to let her past without any commotion, that Lara was certain of.
The Hand? Most probably, and that meant that they already knew that their agent in England had failed, and were expecting her.
And things just went on going smoothly as she moved through the town; she instantly found a good, sturdy Jeep that the car-dealer offered her to rent at a reasonable prize.
She quickly got hold of supplies, and one merchant even offered her weapons at extremely low prizes, telling her that such a beautiful lady should venture out into the desert without a good rifle.
Lara decided against it, she had her two Berettas and the weapons bought here would probably have been sabotaged.
They wanted her to leave for the Valley before nightfall, she was certain of that.
For out in the desert, they could ambush her without any interference, striking her at their choosing.
She would stay in town overnight, and head out into the desert at first light.
Finding a room turned out to be harder, which Lara thought to be a good sign, but eventually she got a room at a tavern.
She instructed the tavern-owner that she was not to be disturbed, and headed up for her room.
Well there, Lara made preparations to make sure that no one could enter her room without Lara noticing it.
She had always been proud of her good self-discipline, and so Lara was soon sound asleep.

Is her sleep disturbed or does she make it through the night unscathed?
