Sleepy and hungry

They quickly polished off the remaining patties on the plate, or rather, Jade did. Now, with a full belly, she gave a large yawn and curled up on the other end of the couch. No, of course that didn't make James feel somehow lonely, why should it? He most definitely did not want Jades head in his lap, snoozing peacefully while he ran his fingers through her fur. You can't prove otherwise.

Still, since Jade was sleeping soundly, this did present him with an excellent opportunity to peek in on Sapphire. She hasn't made a single sound, nor has James seen her since she left the kitchen. There's probably only one place she could be, his parents room. Best not to go without a peace offering though, so his first stop was the kitchen, where he turned the stove off and piled the plate once again with warm patties.

Creeping up to the door, James quietly opened it and peeked in. He half expected to be attacked, if he was being entirely honest. After all, it didn't seem like Sapphire was too keen on him. He did not expect the sight before him, which was that of the canine curled up into a little ball, hands around her stomach, whimpering pitifully. His heart broke right then and there, no way in hell was he going to leave this room until he got her to eat.

Walking up to her, James sat down cross-legged only two feet or so away. Surprisingly, Sapphire didn't react to his approach. Her eyes were closed, so it likely meant she was sleeping, not very peacefully though. With the plate of patties on his lap, he let out a polite cough, and her eyes shot open.

Sapphire didn't move, only stared at him, while James stared back. She gave him a look as though she wanted to look menacing, but just couldn't muster up the energy to do so. Yea, no matter what happens from this point, James knew he couldn't back down or let her escape. This poor creature, no, this poor woman needed kindness, and he was going to damn well make sure she got some.

Resolved, he placed the plate on the floor, and slowly slid it towards her. Keeping eye contact with her the entire time, James made a point to take one himself and bite into it, chewing slowly. After what seemed an eternity, Sapphires eyes left his, to linger on the food, her fingers twitching and her stomach letting out a fierce growl.

"Listen..." James said, in the most calming voice he could manage, "I don't know what brought you to my home, and as a stranger you have no reason to trust me, but I can't sit idly by and watch someone suffer. You need to eat, and I'm going to make sure of it. So, either you eat and go to sleep with a full belly, or not and we sit here all night staring at each other. I'm not leaving until you finish this plate."
