Singing?

Shannon picked up her pace to follow the sound. As she got closer, she could hear it more clearly. It... It sounded like... singing. Very human-like at that. Shannon shook her head. She must have been hallucinating, hearing human voices in a wild uninhabited planet. But she still heard it faintly. She remembered reading of some animals producing human-like voices to lure in their victims, yet she was drawn to the voice still. It could be her only way out of the jungle.

The closer she got, the clearer the singing got. It was in a language not familiar to Shannon, which must have meant whoever used it had not been discovered by the Federation yet. Soon, she reached a clearing in the thick jungle forest and carefully hid behind a tree. She peaked out in the direction the voice was coming from.

She saw a woman.

She was sitting on a log facing away from her, but she could see her bronze shoulders and long, dark mane. She definitely looked like a human woman. Shannon could barely believe her luck. Ever since the Calamity, it was not unheard of to rediscover human civilisations living on new planets with their own cultures. It just made things all the easier for her that the natives were her own race. They would never hurt someone who looks just like them.

Emboldened by that thought, she strode through the thick undergrowth toward the woman. "Hey!" she yelled. "Can you help me?"

The singing stopped, the woman sprang up and within a heartbeat, was facing Shannon with a spear she had grabbed from the ground. She was human all right. She was wearing a sort of halter top and some loincloth that made her look like a savage. An idea that was supported by her weapon of choice, a crude spear.

Shannon raised her hands up submissively, to try and calm the woman. But was shocked to see that in her previous observation, she had failed to notice one tiny detail: the woman was about 8 feet tall. She looked like the Amazons from those old earthbound legends.
