She heads up the stairs

The woman gripped the banners as she slowly ascended the stairs. What little sunlight that entered the entrance hall started to dim as she approached the second floor landing. In front of her was a long, dark hall, so dark that Christina couldn’t see to the end. Looking around, she noticed a candelabra on an end tables with some low but functional candles. She removed a book of matches from her pack, lit the candles, and started to venture down the hall.

It felt like someone was watching her as she slowly crept forward, causing her to be on her guard. The hallway felt like it went on forever, the entrance distantly behind her. She stopped for a second and thought Should I check out one of these side rooms? Or see whats at the end of this hall?
