In short, it was simple but effective, a formation known since the ancients, yet adapted for a more modern era, it was the eagle formation!. and the way that it worked it was following, first, she would be putting herself at the front of her group and serve as the "beak" or spearhead of the central attack, fitting to an armoured lady like her.

Next, Ferdinand would be heading east, and Hubert west, in order to form the "wings" of the column, where they would be chasing down the other teams archers and mages in the rear, and block any atempts by them to encircle them.

Finally, Bernadetta and Lindhardt would be behind her as the "Tail", in the second column, to serve as support, and to harrass the enemy from afar before they touch us. With Byleth's job being to coordinate them from the base, as well as to defend it should anyone come close to it.
