You check out the library clerk as you head for the door. You promised yourself that you'd chat her up but, looking at her again, you decide against it.
You hit a home run with Amber, at least in terms of looks if not in personality. If you start dating someone uglier than her, she'll find out and she'll rag on you.
The clerk gives you a smile and you nod back but keep on walking.
As the door closes behind you, you wonder if you chickened out.
