Sharon and Bridgett walk up to Sharon's room on the third floor of the house, where Sharon, at Bridgett's insistence, put a large shirt on. Then with a calming breath she picked her phone up and said, "Call Courtney."
Courtney picked up on the first ring, "Hey, Sharon! What's up?"
"For me? Not a thing, for you? It's number eighteen, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Sharon exclaimed over the phone, with as much enthusiasm as she could.
"Between you and Bridge, I'm going to lose my hearing!"
"Sorry. But I have a surprise for you! Since we're all eighteen my mom said we can go to her store and pick anything out of the store for our presents. She held off on it for you. I think she has the hots for you."
"Gah, please! Not another word like that. I don't swing that way!" Courtney said, exasperated.
"I know...she thinks she can convince you though. And she doesn't take no for an answer. You know that."
"Hum...maybe I can skip this then. I really have no desire for that. I don't judge, but...I mean. It's not me. I love Jer...uh...men."
Sharon was quiet for a moment, her eye dropping closed. Her heart sank more. "Did you just stop yourself from saying Jeremy? It's not just a crush?"
"I don't know. I like him a lot and I want him to be numero uno. Just haven't been able to broach the subject with him yet is all. Why?" Sharon heard her ask.
"N...no reason." Sharon answered, unable to keep her voice totally steady.
"You didn't...please tell me you didn't?"
"We...we didn't go all the way. I swear. I didn't know it was like that for your, Courtney. Please don't be mad at me. You have big friends!" Sharon said, never bothering to breath through her spiel.
"How...how far did...why?"
"I am SO sorry. If I had known he meant more than just a crush to you I wouldn't have..."
"How far, Sharon? I need to know. Please." Courtney said plaintively.
"I gave him a BJ, and had him eat me out. That's it. I swear. L-look at it this way...he-he'll have a better idea of what to do. You...you can enjoy it better." Sharon answered, her eye welling up with tears.
"Why? Why did you do this to me?" Courtney asked.
"I didn't do this to you. I didn't realize. I swear I thought it was just a crush..."
"For fourteen years? How many 'crushes' last fourteen years? I...I love him."
"You've never even dated! And I did it because he's hot. But all it was was just getting our rocks off. I swear. I am SO sorry."
'I-I'm going to have to pass on the gift. Right now...I don't want to see you. Or talk to you." Courtney said, then Sharon heard the call disconnect.
