Seven

It was almost 9:00 am when Jim was on his way out to start his shift at the bar.

The door almost hit his face as it opened from the other side. Lorriane was coming in at the precise instant he was coming out.

Lorriane had been out all night. She looked nothing like the night before.

She was wearing the same dress but hair was down and disheveled. Her make up was almost completely gone and she looked anything but radiant.

"Oh hey!" said Lorriane trying to seem energetic.

"Hey, I'm just off to work" said Jim.

"Oh yeah, of course... is it that late? Or early I should say" said Lorriane "I guess we had a bit too much to drink!" she laughed.

"Yeah..." said Jim, not quite knowing what to say.

"I'm going to lie down... is your father home?" said Lorriane.

"No, he came in late and I heard him leave a couple of hours a go" said Jim.

"Oh good... I mean... fine... I'll give him a call" said Lorriane "I should go lie down" she said. Jim noticed she was barefoot, her heels probably hurt so much she'd taken them off in the taxi.

Jim went off to work.
