Tentatively the lieutenant looked down the darkened shaft, assessing the situation. Climbing down simply was not an option, the walls of the shaft were unusually smooth and any attempt to do so would be tantamount to suicide. “Why the fuck did I separate the group?” She cursed under her breath.
“We have to get twelve,” A panic stricken Eighteen demanded, wringing her hands. The last thing the lieutenant needed was for Eighteen to loose it at a time like this.
“Twelve’s a big girl and can handle herself,” the lieutenant added, though she doubted the truthfulness of those words. After all, Calvo was a male and if he wanted to **** the petite guard it was unlikely that she would be able to stop him.
“If he touches one hair on her…” Eighteen whispered, tears in her eyes.
The lieutenant placed a reassuring hand on Eighteen’s shoulder, “Come on girl, I know you’re worried but we aren’t doing anything for Twelve standing here dwelling on what ifs.”
Eighteen straightened, a look of resolution replacing her anxiety, “Where to lieutenant?”
“Well, for starters, we should make our way to the bridge,” the lieutenant responded, “from there we should be able to access most of the ships systems and with any luck we can restore power to the lifts.”
She looked around, they knew the bridge was on this deck, but given the size of the ship it could still take a while to find its precise location. “Computer, can you show me the way to the bridge?” She asked tentatively.
Instantly a light in the center of the floor flared up and shot down the corridor before disappearing around a corner. The two women looked at each other, maybe this would be easier than they thought.
Wordlessly they followed the guiding light down the hall, oblivious to the dark almond shaped eyes that watched them from the shadows.
